Don't send an SAR, just ring them (they're open from 09:00-13:00 Saturdays). I had no paperwork on a loan taken out 11 years ago & they had all of my details. I know they're a terrible company however they have been great with my claim (it's also very easy to get through to them)
Too late - went in the post todayOh well.

Oh well.
I'd still ring them though as you may be able to get the ball rolling on your complaint a lot sooner.0 -
Calling them would be a good idea as the account was closed 8 years ago.
0800 062 062
These only keep records for 6 years so would be a waste of time, stick with the phone call.
You could try the Sar if they cannot find you on the phone but it is possible any data from 8 years ago may have been destroyed, it could be worth a try, you never know.
I Rang MBNA earlier today & after answering a few security questions they were able to give me the long number of my card & said they were sending me 1 of their questionnaires to fill in.
Just out of interest, when my missus got her cheque last week, she accepted their 1st offer, was she wise in doing this or would she have been better off rejecting it in the hope they sent her an improved one?
Also, a friend was thinking of putting a claim in on his card ,but he has defaulted on a number of payments, should he still go ahead with claiming himself or would he be better using a claims handler? If you're not living on the edge, you'll take up too much room.0 -

Hi,
Can anyone confirm whether I'd have a chance of getting a refund. My situation is as follows:
Took out a loan with Lloyds back in Jan 2009 I signed up to the PPI because I was told that if a didn't I probably wouldn't qualify for the lone. Now the problem is I was told this in a one to one meeting and so it's my word against theirs!
Do I have a leg to stand on?
Thanks in advance for any advice on this.
I think your in with a chance as i had 7 loans with hsbc, same thing given info verbally, i made a full recovery on all of them, go for it what have you got to lose.0 -
I have a Capital One credit card and recently noticed that I am paying PPI - it looks like a percentage of the outstanding balance on the card. I wasn't aware of having purchased this so thought I would go through the claims process.
The first step was to get a copy of my credit card agreement as I no longer had it - this has now arrived and the box to ask for PPI was never ticked. The form also asks for a second signature to confirm that PPI is wanted and this was also blank.
So it seems like this isn't really a case of Capital One mis-selling me a policy, more that they have gone against the actual agreement. Because of this I'm finding it difficult to fill in the standard claim form - I can't answer any of the questions about how the policy was sold to me because it wasn't!!
I was thinking a straightforward letter might work given the simpler nature of my complaint but having read some of the stories on here I'm not so sure.....anyone else have any similar experience?0 -
hi,about four weeks ago i sent an email to hsbc as i believe i had been mis sold ppi, my reasoning is i was told i had more chance of getting the loan if i had protection, and that the bank don't like to give loans out without it. A few days later i received a letter saying they are looking into it and they actually supplied loan numbers and policy numbers for 3 loans which i was surprised about, i know i had previous loans with them but only have paperwork for the most recent. After reading posts on this web site, i kept coming across front loading and wondered what it was, i looked into it and now i have a fair idea i have filled in a questionaire stating this as another reason i believe i was mis sold. Was also looking through old paperwork and found a loan agreement from black horse from 2005 which also seemed to have the whole front loading thing going on so i have just sent a letter to them too :-) i was just wondering how hsbc/black horse were at paying out? Do banks still not pay out with front loaded policys or is it almost cert? thanks0
