    :TI was exactly the same. I had a couple of loans in 2001-2003 around about £13000. I paid them off by 2008. I did not know if I had pip on these loans- my memory is shot.anyhow I called HSBC and started by saying, ihad a couple of loans, can you tell me if there was pip added to them. She said yes you had two loans both with pip do you want to make a claim. She sent me a form, I completed it with no facts, no paperwork They sent me a letter yesterday offering me £6,327. I'm a happy bunny. Go for it, just call them, they have all the details and are just waiting for you to make contact. Good luck

    Well done:j:j:j:j:j:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::money::money::money::money::money::money:;););););););):D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:):):):):):):):)

    I’m sure this or a similar question has been asked in the past but I’ve trawled back a bit and just can’t find it This is a massive discussion!

    While I think the answer is No I’ll ask anyway to set my mind at ease. In 1987 I was sold a Life Assurance Policy from the then Irish Life, the company seems to have long gone and is now owned by Countrywide Assured.

    Anyway since childhood I have had epilepsy and at times it has been pretty severe and certainly in the early parts of my life I spent a lot of time on the sick or unemployed due to my health condition. Can’t say if I was working in 1987, but would be surprised if I were.

    So my question is this should I have been sold this policy, if not have I a claim under the PPI?

    Just looking at the annual statement there was no critical illness benefit or disability benefit attached to the insurance aspect of the policy. The sum assured was for £6,000, the current surrender value would be in the region of £8,300 (round figures) and the monthly premiums are £20

    As always many thanks to Moneysavers for their advice.

    Your chances of a successful complaint about a 25 year old policy are nil.

    I have agreed not to go for judgment while i try to claim (time limit four weeks)
    The problem with this is it typically takes eight weeks or more to process a PPI complaint, even if it's successful.

    Argos have rejected my claim, judging by posts read, the letter they sent is a bog standard letter they send to everyone. So I have my letter & SAR all printed off, ready to send Recorded Delivery tomorrow, would have done it today but I am at work & cheque book is at home:eek:. It will be interesting to see what comes of it

    You don't think you are doing this back-to-front?
    What I mean is that you should have done your research before complaining. What exactly are you trying to achieve by sending a SAR letter? Are you hoping Argos will send you evidence to enable you to ask them to reconsider? Do remember that they have 40 (working) days to comply with a SAR , this will be eating into the six months you are allowed to forward your complaint to FOS.

    Oh.....never thought of it that way, should I just go straight to FOS then do you think? I was hoping they could send me evidence of the so called "non-pressurised, relaxed conversation" I had when I was sold the ppi. I thought I would need the SAR if I had to send anything to the FOS? I no longer have this card, it was cleared in 2009 & thats when the ppi ended.

    Sorry, this is the first one I have had that has been refused so I am at a loss as to what to do.

    Hi, Can anyone help ??? I need to know if its worth claiming ppi on old accounts from 2005 that i have paid off through a debt management company. The payments were reduced and the accounts written off eventually. It left me with a poor credit history but no debt. Not sure if the companys will pay out on the ppi claim back though seeing as they already wrote off a substantial amount of the money !!! IF they did let me claim it back are they entitled to keep the money for their own compensation....or is this a separate matter ???
