PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Hi all,
Just want to clarify the next step - I went into Lloyds today to see if they still had records of a very old loan, they do, so now I have account numbers from 1992/1996 for two loans I had - what is the next step?
Do I need to do the questionnaire or just send the letter reclaiming?
Many thanks
You would be better off filling the questionnaire in and sending this to Lloyds, you need to make a copy in case you need to send this to FOS later.0 -
Evening All,
I'm wondering if u think I could have a claim for this. A number of years ago I booked an appointment with a Halifax loan advisor to cancel my PPI, when I arrived I was faced with a panel of 4 people who proceeded to grill as to why I wanted to cancel. They also asked whether my parents were wealthy as did I realise that if I died my debt would pass to my parents to pay off.
Needless to say I didn't cancel my PPI!
Is this worth persuing or is PPI claiming just for taking out at the beginning of a loan?
Thanks
If you have the loan account number, then do the claim over the phone, tell them what you said in your post and ask if this was Single Premium PPI if it was then use this as a reason for mis sell too.

And no member of your family would have to pay your debt back had you died, unless the loan was in there name too, the debt would come out of your estate and if you did not have estate, then they could not have the debt repaid, I am glad you did not cancel this PPI.0 -

In their letter they say I have said the amount offered in terms of the 8% interest is incorrect and I would like it to be recalculated. They then say that they can confirm it is correct and they will not be amending their offer. This is what they have offered:
first offer (ppi amount wrong)
PPI premiums paid £228.60
8% compensation on ppi paid £208.88
total redress: £437.48
second offer (amended ppi amount)
PPI premiums paid £938.53
8% compensation on ppi paid £208.88
total redress: £1147.41
I dont understand why they wont recalculate the 8% interest!!
What should I do??0 -
First post but I'll try to be brief!
We received an offer from Santander consisting of £845.48 refund plus £832.30 interest.
After further enquiries from us they sent us a breakdown showing all the monthly premiums (totalling £845.48) and the interest calc s/sheet.
This is where I'm stuck - I can't work out how the interest has been calculated;
May 98 Premium £34.32 interest offered £0.23
They say that the interest rate of 15% applies from May 98 - Mar 93 and this reduces to 8% from Apr 93 to date.
No matter what formula I try I can't get back to the first calc. of £0.23.
I'm hoping your interest expert might be able to throw some light on this.0 -

Why can't they join the dots and assume I want the statements for the previous incarnation of the card as well (and no I don't remember the card number)? or are they being deliberately unhelpful? is there a template letter that might cover this?
You should write back to them and let them know that this Sar is incomplete, let them know that the card number was changed previous to the statements that they have sent you and that you would like all info on you as you requested or you will contact the ICO, you may have to give them another 40 days but in the meantime put the complaint in for the statements you have, it is possible when you make the complaint that they will find the previous card, you could even state this in the complaint.0 -
You send the complaint to loans.co.uk ask FP and they should give you the address, what year was this loan taken out and did you get the cashback.
Hi Amersall
The loan was taken out in April 2005. We have not had the cashback as we fell into some arrears and also we claimed on the insurance for six months when my partner lost his job. Will this affect our claim ?
We are still paying this loan

Recieved a letter today from RBS about my old Natwest account (that is now closed) saying they had no record of my account?
If the account is closed will i still be able to reclaim?0 -
Hi, Can anyone help ??? I need to know if its worth claiming ppi on old accounts from 2005 that i have paid off through a debt management company. The payments were reduced and the accounts written off eventually. It left me with a poor credit history but no debt. Not sure if the companys will pay out on the ppi claim back though seeing as they already wrote off a substantial amount of the money !!! IF they did let me claim it back are they entitled to keep the money for their own compensation....or is this a separate matter ???
If you won mis sell they will take this off whatever balances that they wrote off.0 -

I have a PPI with Santander. I bought online in 2002.
I wanted to buy a cover for unemployement but i ended up having three covers (Unemployment, sickness and accident).
Complained to Santander and they upheld my claim. My claim was on the fact that i didn't need those two covers, I needed only unemployment cover.
The offer given is lower than the total premiums I have paid in for this policy. At the same time they are saying once offer accepted the whole policy will be cancelled.
Should I expect the premiums I have paid for sickness and accident only or the all premiums I have paid for the whole policy?
Because they will be cancelling the policy I think I should be given back all the premiums I paid and not only the premium I paid for the part of sickness and accident.
The policy is for the whole package.
Please advice.
If you settled this loan early then, as above, you would have a pro rata rebate and you would have paid back the remaining PPI in with the settlement figure.
Write back and reject the offer if this is Single Premium PPI and let them know that you are not happy that they agreed to pay redress for 2 parts of the PPI but will then cancel the policy for the 3rd part they will not pay redress for, use the SP as a reason you were mis sold if this applies to you.0 -
Hi all... I have had a loan with HSBC which i took out in store for £12,000 but as far as i know no ppi... i have also had a number of credit cards with MBNA, Virgin, HSBC, Barclaycard, Capital One (i think?) and possibly others as i used to just pay the minimum monthly fees and move the outstanding balance around on interest free offers...
So i have never officially chose to take out ppi as its not something that would help in any way but how do i know if any of them had it without any paperwork and not fully aware of which creditcards i've had?
Plus what about mortgages? Alliance and Leicester... As you can probably tell i aren't exactly financially savvy...
Thanks in advance for any advice where to start.......................
If you live local to any bank that you know you had credit with, the n just pop in and ask them or telephone.
When you get the account numbers, post up here and I will tell you the next step.0
