My partner has just checked the paperwork for a 6yr loan she took out back in 2006 through Prestige Finance. Included in the paperwork are details of the PPI.

We have noticed in the covering letter from Prestige it says (my partner also remembers this being discussed at length during the loan application call):
"This includes an insurance premium of £1671 which covers Mr A and Miss B jointly against accident, sickness, redundancy and provides joint life cover."

Then in the Key Facts - Policy Summary section it says:
"On joint policies, both insured parties have life cover. Only the first named insured has accident, sickness and unemployment cover"

This reads to me that only one person is covered for accident & sickness, not both as the covering letter suggests.

Does this class as mis-selling? My partner also thinks it was suggested on the application phone call that chances of being accepted for the loan would be better if she had PPI but its so long ago that she cant be sure.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi all.
This is the first time I have posted and i apologise if its in the wrong bit!

I have a problem with claiming PI back from HSBC and wondered if anyone else had or if they can advise.

In april, I filled in the forms for 3 seperate bank loans I took out. HSBC picked the smallet one and paid out £160. If this loan had PPI the others certainly did too. But they completely disregarded the other two loans!

I then sent in to HSBC 3 mortgage details that I had taken out that had PPI in them. Again I filled out the proper forms and again HSBC picked the smallest loan to look into and ignored the others!

I have tried phoning their number but they talk for ages, tell you your in a q, then cut you off!!

Any advice on this would be grest,

    Thank you

We had a credit card that was originally from egg but wassold to Barclay card.

Who would I make a claim against is it egg or Barclaycard orboth.

Also if it was egg where would I Wright to get details itwas an online account but when you log on the details are no longer there.

Was egg one of the companies fined for miss selling? Doesthis mean the payment will not be contested?

Also I have a Lombard card I have written to them and askedfor details of my agreement using the template letter which has just beenignored what is my next step would be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated new to this:)

Why didn't/don't you write to the Bank and ask them to explain why the other loans were "disregarded"?

Did you actually do any research before complaining? Or were these just speculative complaints?

You really can't just assume that the other loans had PPI.

If you have the card numbers or loan account numbers and reasons for mis sell then put the claims in, you can get the info on the accounts that were passed over to debt collectors if you call them and ask for this, failing that just contact each bank and ask if they can find you.

If you win redress, this will go towards to the debts, any surplus after the arrears have been paid will come to you.

Hi can i call capital one and start the ball rolling or do i need to filling the form. Also as i have a statements from some of the accounts with the ppi clearly showing on them do i need to send of for the old paperwork ?
    Thank you x

This is what the cover does for a joint loan, they make both borrowers liable for the debt but the second borrower only has life cover, if you made one monthly payment to the loan and this included the PPI monthly payment. this is Single Premium PPI and this is the reason for mis sell that you use, this was a loan on the loan paid to term end with interest, if you cancelled the PPI they would have given you a pro rata rebate of the PPI and the remaining PPI is still on the loan to term end.

If you settled this loan early then, as above, you would have a pro rata rebate and you would have paid back the remaining PPI in with the settlement figure.

You need to fill the form in, keep a copy in case this goes to FOS.
    You are welcome x.

Oh.....never thought of it that way, should I just go straight to FOS then do you think? I was hoping they could send me evidence of the so called "non-pressurised, relaxed conversation" I had when I was sold the ppi. I thought I would need the SAR if I had to send anything to the FOS? I no longer have this card, it was cleared in 2009 & thats when the ppi ended.

Sorry, this is the first one I have had that has been refused so I am at a loss as to what to do.

Jus tbumping to see if anyone can help, should I just send Argos the letter asking if they can provide me proof of the so called conversation without the SAR or just proceed to FOS with copies of the paperwork? Thanks in advance :T

So far I have had no acknowledgement from Marbles, alhtough HFC/HSBC has just cashed a £1 cheque I previously sent for terms and conditions. (I'll be following this up with a phone call),
If the accounts are closed they do not have to supply the info you asked for, if you have the card/loan account numbers and reasons for mis sell then put the complaint in, with the cards you may have taken PPI at a later date so this will not show on the agreements.
Give them a ring and see what they are doing.

Does this letter mean that the 8 week time limit means nothing now, and this can go on as long as they want? Also, does this mean it is likely they will be looking at all the loans I had between 1997 and 2004 as requested? How long do Santander claims usually take?

The 8 weeks can go on for as long they want it too, as long as they keep you informed as to why they are delaying then you either wait for them to deal with this or they give you the option to take this to FOS.
They have 8 weeks to issue you with a final response and at that point they will tell you to go to FOS if you want to.

Santander used to be quick but I am not sure how they are dealing with claims at the moment.
They should look at all the loans especially if these were used to settle the previous one.

If it was not a final response then ask for proof of the conversation, don't think they will have this but as they are rejecting the claim on the conversation they must have something that they based the decision on.
If it was a final response then send copies of the paperwork and stress that you want proof of the conversation as this is one of the reasons for rejection.
