Can anyone help with this please?
HFC first offered me a refund of the PPI premium I paid to them of £228.60. The PPI was taken out on 22.5.00
The statutory interest at 8% has been calculated at 208.88.
I contacted them to say they havent included the PPI i Paid to debt collectors when the account was passed over.
They replied to say yes you are right, we will refund you £938.53 plus 8% interest of £208.88.
Why havent they recalculated the interest??
I told them they have made a mistake and today I received a letter telling me this is the only redress I am entitled to!!
They also added that I have now exhausted their complaints handling procedures and if I contacted them again they would not reply!!
Do I accept this offer? Why isnt interest paid on the full amount??

Alexxandra wrote: »Hi everybody, I have been reading posts and taking advice from them for several weeks now and due to that I filled out the questionnaire and sent two of them to Lloyds TSB, one for a £1000 loan back in 2005 and one for my Credit Card which I have had since 1998. I received a letter back just acknowledging and advising it will take up to 8 weeks to get back to me. After 6 weeks (last week) I got a telephone call from a man at Lloyds asking me to explain to him in my own words why I thought I had been mis-sold my PPI.
I explained to him that in both cases I felt that if I didn't take it I would get rejected for both the loan and the card. In the case of the loan the lady on the phone didn't even give me the instalment amounts without the PPI. I was not questioned about my work, my health, whether I had sufficient cover at all and the policy was not explained to me at all. I also explained that my employer has always given me a long term sickness benefit and a good redundancy package if the worst was to happen. The role I am in always gets good benefits. In fact, while I had the loan I was made redundant and I thought I might as well claim and they wouldn't let me. They told me I had to "sign on" to be eligible. I told them that I had contacts in the industry and would have another job within a couple of months and I wouldn't sign on so they wouldn't pay out. This proves that I didn't need the insurance as if I had needed the money I would have signed on to get it!
Anyway, I received a letter on Saturday regarding the credit card from Lloyds saying that they are rejecting my claim and all the way through it seems to be based on the assessors opinion. At one point he says that at no point was company procedure to refuse credit if PPI wasn't taken and so in his opinion this wasn't the case. I did not say that it was company procedure, I said it was how the operative made me feel?! I am furious because my credit card is £6000 and has always been maxed out and I have had it since 1998! I know they are trying to get out of paying me.
He has said that I have 28 days to get back to him with additional evidence and then he will close the file. And if I wanted to I can go to the FOS.
I am so fed up - when the bank charges thing happened, everybody I knew got paid straight away by their banks - I put in a claim with Lloyds, they put it on hold and then never paid out. Everybody seems to be getting their PPI back but no, Lloyds reject my claim???? What is it about Lloyds and me??
Any advice anybody? It would be so much appreciated.

Hi alexxandra I.ve had the same with these clowns, they refused to even acknowledge that I had my two cards both going back to 1998 and 1992, have you any statements or paperwork? I luckily in the end have found proof that I was self employed and found statements showing ppi, keep at em.0 -
They have not recalculated this 8% as they have paid you to the redress date, if they go over the date they are to pay you, then they will give extra 8% for the days you are waiting, this 8% is on a decreasing scale so a few days would not be a great deal of money.
Thanks Amersall,
I am still confused though as the ppi amount has changed from £200+ to £900+ so instead of paying 8% of 900 they are paying 8% of 200.0 -
Sorry, this may be something answered previously but I was looking at doing the claim myself following the easy step by step guide. Step 3 says to contact your lender using the form shown. The only thing that confuses me is the form is from the Ombudsmen and tells you to send the completed form to them and no mention about the lender.
Is there a different form to fill out to send to the lender to request the refund before involving the Ombudsmen?0 -

This is the form I used to send off to all of mine, its an editable word document about 3/4 of the way down the page under Step 3, write to your lender HTH.
ETA Just click on Step 3 write to your lender at top of page & it takes you directly to it:TGratitude is the best Attitude :T

Some lenders (HSBC for one) insist on it's use, others will accept a complaint letter or even telephone call.
As the questionnaire states, it's designed to put all potentially necessary information in one place and I advise using it whoever your lender is.0 -
