I had a mortgage from Abbey National which was paid in full in approx 2004 and I want to know if I can re-claim PPi and who would I contact in order to do this as Abbey National no longer exist, Thank You

    Hi there

If mis sold the ppi for any reason with the mortgage, like a loan/credit card ppi you are entitled to make a reclaim, and I believe it may be Santander you write to, as they would have taken over the liabilities the same time as taking over the bank in name.

However, Dunstonh and/or MagpieCottage will give you good advice on this one if you require further info before you continue.

    Good luck.

Because it was a joint loan at point of sale and despite it being transferred solely to me (and the ex never paying a penny towards it) they say the complaint relates to the miss-selling of the PPI at the point of sale, so thy need both signatures. :(
What a shame, have you tried to reason with them? if you paid this loan and PPI back then why should the ex get 50%.

I have just got a settlement on a PPI claim, from my bank. I have an overdraft with this Bank.If I let the money they are refunding go into this bank will they automatically take back what I owe on the overdraft? Does anyone know, please?

You would have to ask the bank, or wait and see what they do, don't tempt providence :)
I won with YB and they did not take it off my overdraft.
  • This is exactly the same as me. Ppi was added to my account 2years after taking the card. I did not tick or sign for ppi. I completed the fos form leaving any questions I couldn't answer blank and stating that I had a copy of agreement which was not ticked and that it was added to my account without my consent - claim upheld £9000 on the way to me can't believe it good luck

I have a Capital One credit card and recently noticed that I am paying PPI - it looks like a percentage of the outstanding balance on the card. I wasn't aware of having purchased this so thought I would go through the claims process.

The first step was to get a copy of my credit card agreement as I no longer had it - this has now arrived and the box to ask for PPI was never ticked. The form also asks for a second signature to confirm that PPI is wanted and this was also blank.

So it seems like this isn't really a case of Capital One mis-selling me a policy, more that they have gone against the actual agreement. Because of this I'm finding it difficult to fill in the standard claim form - I can't answer any of the questions about how the policy was sold to me because it wasn't!!

I was thinking a straightforward letter might work given the simpler nature of my complaint but having read some of the stories on here I'm not so sure.....anyone else have any similar experience?

This is the same as me. They added ppi 2years after my account opened. I sent the fos questionnaire leaving the questions I couldn't answer blank stating that it was added to my account without my consent - complaint upheld £9000 on its way - good luck
