He hasn't "given up" if he's gone to FOS.
And plenty of people DO get redress "just by writing a letter".

Do you work for a Claims Company? Touting for business?

no i have alot of experiance dealing with claiming back such charges, as i have done successfully with my own , i have experiance of the fos , its along process which can b speeded up tremendously through the county court , the fos has no power only by negotiation and cannot lay down any law , which creditors prefer as it costd them nothing and most cases this way will settle for a smaller amount which you are entitled to more , the county court is far more effective for such claims that the creditor is dragging there feet over
your advice is ok but lacks venom towards these greedy people

    Hi,

    A little advice please,

My complaint against mis-selling of PPI on a loan is now with the fos who have contacted me and asked for any further information that I may consider important.
I was just wondering whether it would be worth adding that as well as this loan I had another loan with my own bank (both telephone applications but with different companies) at the same time but I did not pay for PPI on that loan.
One of my reasons for mis-sell is that PPI was not discussed during the original call when i applied for the loan but of course I do not have proof of this as there is no recording or transcript.
PPi was discussed with my bank for the other loan but I had no need for it and therefore didn't take it up.
So, if PPI had been discussed, why would I take it on one loan and not the other?

I hope that this makes sense!
    What do you think?

As Moneyineptitude said I haven't given up, I'm dealing with FOS at the moment. I have reclaimed PPI before, but as it was on a loan I just wondered if it was a different kettle of fish from a credit card.
I really didn't "think buy just writing a letter etc, they would send you a cheque in the post ??"
    Bad attitude :(

Yes it is, so definitely cancel your PPI on the card.
  • I recently came across an old Barclays loan agreement taken out in 1999 clearly showing PPI details - as i was told at the time that the PPI was necessary for the loan I sent a claim letter to Barclays along with copies of the loan paperwork.

They have replied asking me to complete a 'PPI consumer questionnaire'. So far so good....

However... they have sent me THREE questionnaires - all with different reference / account numbers on and their letter seems to indicate 2 additional loan accounts that I have forgotten / don't have paperwork for. The letter does state that 'investigations' will continue whilst they wait for me to return the forms.

Because the reference numbers that Barclays have used are meaningless to me I am unable to complete the requested details (place of work etc ) so am unsure what I should do? Does 'Not Known' count as a legitimate answer?

I was very surprised to receive a reply to my initial letter about one claim... let alone to be told there are another two possible claims!

The same happened to me. The Bank has identified these additional loans as being linked to the loan you are complaining about. This will doubtless be a consolidation chain of loans and so your answers should be similar on each questionnaire.
This looks like a win, good luck!
  • Thaks. Unfortunately I am unable to answer many of the questions asked because the reference numbers that Barclays have used are meaningless to me I am unable to complete the requested details (place of work etc ) so am unsure what I should do? Does 'Not Known' count as a legitimate answer?

Put that you were not aware of the PPI on the other two loans, the reference numbers mean nothing to you and so cannot remember where you were working at the time of the sale.

Hi, trying to get the ball rolling with claiming on ppi's on my husbands old credit cards. The only problem is he doesn't have any account numbers!!

We have done the credit report to get the last 4 digits of the account numbers. I am now trying to find out how to contact the banks in order to get account numbers. The banks are:
    MBNA Europe
    Barclaycard
    American express Europe
I found an address in Chester for MBNA, and we could just go in Barclays, but stuck on American express, can anyone please help???

It is possible the banks will find you from the last 4 digits of the account, call them and see.

    American express

    What do you think?
Was this Single Premium PPI and did you use this as a reason for mis sell?.
If you had no PPI on the other loans then use that as a reason, you have not taken this previous so why now?.
