PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Could somebody please advise me whether I can reclaim the PPI I have on my mortgage.
Looking at my terms and conditions it states 'As this advance exceeds 90% of the equity being purchased, you are required to take out mortgage payment protection insurance. This policy may only be cancelled if the balance of the mortgage falls below 90% of your share of the property's value'.
I was made redundant in 2006 and tried to make a claim on this but was advised that the insurance would not cover me in the event of unemployment, I have also tried to cancel the PPI but have not been able to.
The balance of our mortgage is now below 90% so I do still want to cancel this but as I have been paying £19.50 a month for 12 years for a service that would not cover me anyway I would like to claim this back.
I was made redundant whilst pregnant last year and my state maternity pay is coming to an end so any money would be vvery gratefully received0 -

We have done the credit report to get the last 4 digits of the account numbers. I am now trying to find out how to contact the banks in order to get account numbers. The banks are:
MBNA Europe
Barclaycard
American express Europe
I found an address in Chester for MBNA, and we could just go in Barclays, but stuck on American express, can anyone please help???
Hi there
With some if you contact the bank/business direct they can still try tracking the account numbers down, or say if you banked with any of them, they may be able to trace them down going back maybe the last 6 years sometimes longer.
However, with some but not all or always, they may still be able to deal with your reclaiming complaint with just the info you give them, it's up to you if you want to give it a shot at this stage.
Good luck.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Back in my younger, more naive days I had PPI on all my loans and credit cards as I always believed the blurb that it was "strongly recommended" I should take it out and that was enough to scaremonger me into having PPI. These go back as far as 1994 when I got my first credit cards - GM Card and an RBS mastercard.
Firstly, Can I claim back as far as 1994? And secondly, I'm not going to lie and say I didn't know I had PPI on any of these products because I did, but like I say the way it was worded to me on credit card applications and face-to-face discussions when taking out loans pressured me into taking it out. Is this enough grounds for a claim?
I dread to think how much I've forked out in PPI down the years - could be £10,000 or more when taking loans into account - so any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi there
Many have been successful with making reclaims even from even older accounts, do give it a go, as long as you have your reasons and details of the accounts in order for them to try tracking them down.
Reclaim questionnaire complaint forms below, send to whoever sold and arranged you the policy, head office or complaints, remember to keep copies, good luck.

Hi there
You can still make a reclaim on a mortgage ppi as you do with a loan ppi, however below I have posted a new thread, which is still amongst these reclaiming threads, but this way maybe Dunstonh and or MagpieCottage can advise you a little more on this one.
Title it something like "Mortgage PPI help".

Hello all you lovely people, I am an avid lurker on this board and after reading this thread I completed the PPI form for a previous Halifax loan that we had. We paid the loan off a year early so wasn't expecting too much if anything. On Saturday we received a letter with 3 cheques for a total of £8192.98 :j
I just want to say a big mahoosive thank you to you all :kisses3:as without this thread I wouldn't have had the knowledge or the courage to complete and send the form, and I would also like to encourage any other lurkers like myself to go ahead and do it, you have nothing to lose and a lot to gain
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You,
Nice one sharon,superb:T:T:T:T:T:j:j:j:j:money::money::money::money::money::money::cool::cool::cool::cool::D:D:D:D:D:D:):):):):):):):):):):)0 -

Hi there,
I've tried to reclaim current credit card PPI from MBNA and been knocked back. I'm in the process of contacting FOS but was wondering if I should cancel the PPI now or will that affect my claim?
Any thoughts? :undecided0 -
