Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm new to all this. Is it possible to claim back without any paperwork or imformation? I had a loan with HFC back in 1999 but no longer have any details at all. Is it worth begining the process or am I not likely to get anywhere?0

Hi just wanted to check out this question before I abandon my claim all together with abbey for 1996-2001
I recieved my SAR from MBNA today and although they have detailed refs for 2001 to date there is very little before this date. I hoped it would show more for previous period when it was an abbey credit card
MBNA have reimbursed me from 2001 to date and please do not think I am being greedy when chasing up other years. The way Santander spoke to me on the phone made me feel like I was begging or making the whole thing up
Basicially they want prove of ppi and payments for 96-01 and although I have bank statements showing each monthly payments they do not give break down of any ppi.
On looking at sar docs there is little to show but there is a computer page when they changed the credit card from abbey in sept 2001 and it gives the card nos and expiry date for the old card and states quite clearly there is ppc on card
do I send this through with my bank statements or just let it go...
Hi Jenny don't let it go i'm having this with HSBC myself, send copies {not originals} to the bank it should be enough.0 -

Hi powers why not, if you had ppi and you have reason to believe you were misold then go for it, you can get info from a sar if you have no info at all follow the link and go from there send as much info as you can addresses date of birth etc.

I have been lucky enough to have a £7000 settlement offer which I will accept for 10 loans between the late 90's and 2005. However, £3,200 of this is the statutory interest at 8%. Does anyone know how the tax man is going to work out how much I owe them? I am just into the 40% tax range this year, but when I had the loans I was always in the lower tax bracket? Do they have records of this, or will I have to pay 40% of the £3200?0

Hiya
You are welcome
Yes I believe they are the correct addresses to use, although you can add to the letter "FAO to data dept" to make sure they forward your request on.
Any probs let us know, good luck.:)
Thanks once again Di - I've included that as you've suggested. Also, with regards to RBS because these go back as far as 1994 and I don't want them to think they can "wing it" and only send me info going back 5 or 6 years, I've also listed on the SAR letter approximate dates of the loans and credit cards that are of particular interest to me (as I'm quite sure PPI was on all of them). I've worded it as follows:
While I am requesting information relating to all accounts held with yourselves, of particular interest are a total of 6 (six) loans and 2 (two) credit cards that, from memory, were taken out on or around the dates below. You will notice from your records that some of these loans didn’t last the full term as they were superseded by re-financing loans for larger amounts:
Loans (6 in total):
Dec 1994/Jan 1995
Sept/Oct 1995
Dec 1995
March 1996
March/April/May 1997
March/April 2000
Creditcards (2 in total):
Sept/Oct 1994
Spring 19970 -

Hi,
I have been absorbing all information on here for the last couple few weeks (thanks to all you gurus who have made it so clear what to do and inspire confidence in doing it) and have set the wheels in motion with a few companies. I thought I would update on any correspondence or progress in case it helps anybody:
With regards to Paragon I actually took a bit of a flier as I had sent of a few SARs to other companies and thought I'd try and save some money.
So I sent off the fos questionnaire without any account number on it at all, just my old address that the loan was taken out at and the information that the loan was taken out in 2001, plus of course my reasons that I believe I was mis sold ppi.
I thought I would be lucky to get anywhere and would end up having to do another SAR which then could still be unsuccessful.
But just a week later I have received a very pleasant letter from them which actually has my agreement number on it. It does say that the loan did not have ppi so they will consider my complaint closed if they don't hear from me within 8 weeks.
However, I am 100% sure that it did as I remember very clearly the very hard sell and being very upset at the thought of not getting the loan and being patronised by a bit of a smarmy guy who said 'there there now, just take the protection and I'll ensure it goes through fine for you, that's how it works'. So I'm a little confused now!
So, now I have the agreement number can I just send the £1 to get a copy of the agreement or due to it being so long away will I still have to SAR them?
I'd be grateful for advice.
Many thanks0 -
No apology needed, ask all you need to know.
Was the PPI on this Loan paid in with the monthly Loan payment and what year did you take this out?.
You have to get a final response from them before you can go to FOS.
They have all the info they need to look at this claim, they sent you a letter when it was paid up and you have the agreement that shows the Loan details.
So I sent off reply saying they had all they needed and they had been fined for delaying and I was going to FSA if they did not give me settlement proposals in 14 days.
HFC replied saying
"Further to your recent complaint At the present timewehave been unable to resolve your complaint, as the investigation is yet tobe completed. As soon as all the relevant information has been gattered and our investigation has been completed a full response will be issued to you in writing. May we request your patience for a further 28 days by which time we wouldhope to be in a position to bring your complaint to a conclusion"
What do you guys think? Is this likely to be the start of a whole series of delaying tactics? Should I wait, or go now to FSA?0 -
I was contacted by DWS claims about inappropriate lending. They found I had ppi on my Capital One credit card that I've had since 1999! DWS stated that I ticked the box to take out ppi. This was 1999! I had 3 other cards that I did not take ppi out on and I was in full time employment there was no need for me to have ppi.
DWS has now gone into administartion and being taken over, what do I do now?0
