What exactly are you hoping to gain by requesting a SAR,though? That the Bank are lying to you when they say there was no PPI?
You say you've set the wheels in motion with a few companies, are you certain you aren't perhaps remembering meetings with other Banks when you recall "the very hard sell and being very upset at the thought of not getting the loan and being patronised by a bit of a smarmy guy"?
It does strain credibility that you remember so clearly conversations that took place eleven years ago.
A SAR letter will cost you £10, are you certain it will be worth it?0 -

Wow!
I happen to be very sure that they are lying, like I said I remember the conversation. Not sure why it strains credibility that I remember clearly a conversation that took place 11 years ago. I remember a lot from that year and a whole lot of years previously and I'm not sure my memory is any better than anyone elses!
So thank you for checking but yes I'm absolutely sure that I am not recalling other banks as I am also very aware of how the ppi was mis sold on the other few I am looking at. (isn't this how people are claiming? By remembering what happened?)
My apologies to you for my ignorance on the agreement. I thought from what I had read here that you could still obtain the agreement if you had the agreement number even if it had been settled. I therefore presumed that as Paragon had been able to look at it themselves that it was still in existence and therefore I could obtain it. If I could obtain this through a SAR, which I fully realise has a cost attached to it, then yes it would be worth it as I am confident in what I recall.
I thought I had read some other cases on here where people had been told there was no ppi, only to find out later that there was? Am I incorrect?0 -

You may be lucky and receive (as Di did) information going back earlier than six years, but if older material has been destroyed or deleted there will be nothing you or they can do to retrieve it.
Ok, cheers for that. With that in mind, I'm going to delete that part of the SAR letter relating to specific loans and credit cards.
I'm hoping that with me being an RBS customer for the past 23 years that they will have information relating to me going back further than 6 years.0 -

I appreciate that. I've got a vision of them still having the info and then subsequently destroying it when they receive my SAR request lol.0 -

Hi there
My husband has taken out loads of loans through Natwest over the years but didn't have any details. He wrote to them asking for copies of credit agreements relating to his account number and sort code and Natwest kindly printed off a spreadsheet containing all his loan agreement numbers, the dates, the loan amount and ppi paid on them; going back to 1998! He couldnt believe how 'helpful' they were in supplying it as he hadnt mentioned ppi to them but they obviously knew thats what he was after. He's written to RBS and given all the account numbers so now it's a waiting game. Fingers crossed for smooth resolution as the ppi paid is in excess of £11k without any interest added.
Hope that helps.0 -

Thanks for that - that sounds quite promising. I'd imagine with RBS being a well-known high street bank that there's a good chance they still have records going back longer than 6 years.
Well done with the successful NatWest claim and let's hope we have some luck with RBS.0 -

It truly depends on your Bank, how long you've banked with them and whether the information still exists.0 -

Anyway, you'll know for sure in about forty days.0 -

Ahhh no success yet; Natwest only supplied the information he requested then advised him to write to RBS at Manchester. If you google PPI RBS they have a web page advising you how to claim plus have their own version of a PPI Questionnaire.0
