Halifax credit card ppi claim failure
when i went into my halifax branch to change some details on my account i was told by a lady in the branch that i had 3 ppi policys on a credit card i had from 2003 till 2007.she gave me all the paperwork i needed to put a claim in and told me to claim it all back. Today i have recieved a letter telling me that i dont have a claim as i would have been told about ppi when i took the card out.im vey upset because i didnt apply for the card in the first place...i was told by the bank when i was in putting money in my account that i qualified for it...then asked if i had time to sign the agreement for it to which i was taken into the office and advsied where to sign and that the card would take 7 working days to get to me. Do i contact the bank again before going to the fos? At no point did i ask for ppi and didnt even know i had paid it until the branch told me.0 -

Hi there
Try not to let it get you down, this is common rejection, so keep at them, write back and stay strong now. They hope that customers back off after being rejected, and even if it were a final decision, sometimes they will consider reviewing and overturning a decision if you keep at them.
I would ask that they review within 14 days, as you do not agree with the decision they made to reject your complaints, because............ (as you said above). Also tell them the arranger sold the card to you because he or she said you were automatically entitled to it.
Also tell them if they are to reject the complaint again to forward you written concrete evidence of the reasons they gave of why they rejected your complaint. (sometimes they cannot find any, then uphold).
So what further info you can give should help, ask them to let you know by about 14 days of your letter (keep a copy for yourself as well), and confirm if you hear nothing by then or if they continue to reject you will be considering taking matters further.
Also make it clear that when you called directly into the branch, you were literally told to reclaim it all back.
Hopefully that should help, but please do no let them upset you.
Good luck, please let us know how you get on.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
i will be contacting the bank on wednesday and im going to take this all the way0

Amersall, you've suggested that I include the fact that my ppi was a single premium as the reason for mis-sell. Is this what I write in Section E "why you are now unhappy with the insurance?" of the consumer questionnaire that I send to Welcome?
Glad to help you, stick with us and you won't go far wrong !! x.0 -
Does a bank have to provide PPI payment details? We have requested details via Lloyds for my Mams partner who paid PPI on at least four loans. They have sent paper work out after we paid £10, but it doesnt show any PPI payments that were made, only the monthly payment in total and the letter from them says they are not legally obliged to show insurance payments. We're not sure what to do next.
Did they provide account numbers in their response?0 -
I've just had a cheque through the post from Barclays for my PPI claim for £1,446. From the claim amount due to me they have taken off £2,600 from my settlement monies for the amount they wrote off the account which is now closed and a full and final settlement was agreed. Can they do this or should I be entitled to the full £4,046? Surely if a full and final settlement was agreed and the amount was written off and account closed then they cannot missell me a PPI and then take the monies owed to me to pay off the written off debt?
Any advice on this would be helpful as I am not sure of my rights in this situation or what I am entitled to.
They can take the money you owe them as even though they gave you a full and final figure, this meant they took a loss on the debt and you now have money from them they are taking back the remaining debt.
Give FOS a ring, they can clarify this for you, it could be possible that the money you owed included the PPI and there may be a way around this as you paid the PPI in with the full and final and in my opinion you should have this back, had you not been mis sold this product, they could not take this back, could they?.

I am currently in the process of a claim against n-ram for my unsecured loan.
I'm very confused on one piece of paper my unsecured loan is £11650 (which is the right amount) however on another form it shows total unsecured £18,800?!
They have said I have a valid claim and have offered £168 of that only £46 being ppi premiums paid.
The loan is over 30 yrs and I have had it for 7 so far tied in with variable rate mortgage.
I cannot find anywhere in my paperwork that stipulates ppi amount?
Anyone any ideas? Can I request a breakdown of loan?
Many thanks too much thinking has given me a headache.:embarasse
If this Loan is over 30 years, in 7 years you would not have paid much in the way of PPI as the PPI will be over the whole 30 years, it is possible that they have given you back what you paid in PPI, as this is tied in with a Mortgage it could work differently, post your question here

Can you post what the letter actually said regarding the PPI and have they given you copies of the agreements or just figures?, they should have Loan amount, PPI amount, interest, monthly payment and Loan term on your agreement, if they have said they do not legally have to put PPI on the Loan agreement, I can only assume this PPI was paid separately to the Loan and there is other paperwork somewhere for this insurance.0 -

My friend at work had a mortgage with his lender but is now with another lender. He phoned the bank help line who confirmed that he indeed made a lump sum single premium insurance. He had his mortgage with bank for only 3 years before moving his mortgage. As I had been looking into claiming back my own PPI he asked would I have a look at his paperwork. In short his monthly mortgage re- payment (single payment) was for £296.00 over 300 months. this was also showing on his experian statement. The bank said they would send him a claim form. My question is this if they up hold his claim will he get the whole 300 months back? even though he only paid his mortgage for 36 months. if so this is a large sum. I have said nothing to him only that I think he may have a fair chance of a claim but have not mentioned a possible amount.
hope someone will help.
many thanks.
