Can I send off my own FOS forms (I have already filled out new ones from the FOS web site and the FOS questionnaire) along with the reject letter from American Express to the claims company and attempt to claim any repayments back for myself

you could let AE know that you are dealing with this claim and they should not enter into any correspondence with a third party, the same with FOS, this may not work, but you can try, then they will deal with you and not the claims co, you could tell the claims co that you are doing this yourself as you did not realise how little work they did for the fee
I'm afraid (as many others have learned to their cost) you have signed a LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT with the Claims Company. They have instigated a claim on your behalf (with your signed agreement) and they'll want their fee to which they are now entitled.
Don't try to bypass them, they'll set debt collectors on you and your credit rating will be adversely affected
Believe me, if there was an easy (and legal) way of extricating yourself from a CMC contract, we here on this forum would be sharing it.

Hi amersall, many thanks for your advice. I'm just stressing over many things at the moment, this included. My 8 weeks are up on the 28th but I'm not over confident of winning redress from Halifax especially with this for being mortgage ppi. Will keep you posted.

    Fingers crossed :D

it took all of the 8 weeks with barclaycard to get first letter reply of "we need more time to collect info on account", then another 6 weeks of me calling them every week until on 6th week i received letter of " you will get final response no later than 31st may" so 16 weeks in total...............and thats with being in constant contact with them,so god knows how those who just sit around waiting have to wait for a response. good luck in your claim.

    Hi

I am new so apologies if this has already been asked.

Is there a way for me to find out the details of a loan that I paid off around 9 years ago ?

I have contacted Santander and told them the amount and the year and given a description of everything but they wrote back saying I hadnt paid PPI ... When I looked at the info they sent, it was for a different loan even though it was a different amount and date to the details I had given!!

Id rather find the info myself as contacting Santander is a nightmare at the best of times.

Any advice would be much apprieciated

Send them a Sar, ask for all info they hold on you, enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond, this looks like you have another loan as the details are different.

I've actually found my savings account statements which show I actually did pay PPI. I've phoned Barclays and they have re-opened the file. However, they cannot accept faxes so I have to send it by post and they now cannot give me an estimated date of decision because they say they don't have time scales to adhere to after the first part of the process and they are very, very busy but are going to get more staff onboard.

Doesn't look like they will be as efficient as MBNA at re-considering.

    Ah well, more waiting..

Don't know if I've made a mistake. This relates to a Credit Card PPI for Mastercard taken out in 1999, which I cleared and stopped using in 2008, but I still the account open with 68p in it.

Sent letter to RBS looking for original terms and conditions and credit agreement - no answer for 3 weeks. After a phone call they sent out most recent terms and conditions. Phoned up to say this is not what I'm needing and there's a note on my account to say original could not be found. Lady asked why I needed it, I told her I was going to look at reclaiming PPI. She said 'I can fill in a claim for you' Questioned me 'on what grounds do you think you were missold PPI? My answer is something along the lines of 'I was not told there were other products available but was given the impression that only the PPI being sold at the time of the application was valid for this card'

Have I made a mistake? Should I have insisted on original T&Cs from 1999? Is there another form of words I should have used for the same thing?

Do not worry, the complaint is logged now, see what they respond with.
