Yes, a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter

Remember, any redress paid against a defaulted loan is likely to be retained by the Bank. Is a £10 Fee for this worth it?

As suggested I sent the SAR as my OH is adamant that he paid this
loan off in full so wants to see why the loan is showing as defaulted so hopefully this will answer both the default & PPI question.

One further query I was looking for help with please. Sent template letter to Lloyds TSB asking for t&cs etc for a loan from Sept 2004 all they've sent back is a one page reply which covers the amount of loan & PPI loan, the date the loan was provided, the interest rate and the term of the loan. They have a section Period Covered by Statement and here they have put 28 Sept 2008 to 30 Jan 2007...even though the loan was taken out in Sept 2004 and settled in Jan 2007? Is it due to the length of time that has passed since the loan that they haven't provided a statement showing the correct period & included the actual terms & conditions or is this an error on their part and should I go back to them for more information?

    Thanks

    Hi All

What is the next step after not receiving any sort of reply from HFC bank 8 weeks after sending my PPI form to them. It was sent recorded and was received.

Do I need to ring them or do I go straight on the FOS?

    Many Thanks as always

    Hi

Sometimes they do take a little longer than the 8 weeks, you can contact them direct by ringing them to ask for an update if you want to, no harm in doing so, but hopefully that letter will be with you in the next few days, good luck.

Hi not sure if anyone can advise me on this but here goes. I was paying ppi to next on their store card. I put a claim for in to them which i have had a reply stating they are not regulated by FSA so the rules don't apply ro them. They have confirmed i have been paying ppi since 1997 until they stopped it a couple of months ago. Any advice please.

    Hello there

With them being not regulated, then normally your unable to complaint to the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) as they are only able to take on complaints regulated by the stated.

However, the actual insurer/underwriter of the policy may have been regulated, this is possible, and the FOS if you contact them first to get some advice will probably suggest this as another avenue.

If your unaware of who the underwriter is, you can contact/write to the lender of the policy and ask them to send you the policy details, they should send these free of charge) in the post by about 14 days, the details of the underwriter/insurer are enclosed on them.
If they also deny any liability, the FOS if the business are regulated, will be able to take on your complaint and investigate what involvement these had with your policy, from when it was sold to you.

I would therefore as your next step, see what the FOS suggest first, and take it from there, good luck.;)

hmmm, bitter sweet response from egg, had two cc with them, one from 2000 and one from 2005, received a letter a couple of weeks ago on the one from 2000 saying it wasn't miss sold then one today from 2005 saying that was.... what the?? both sold in same way, on line with pre-ticket boxes and I didn't know about either, I had a period of illness for 6 months in 2006 and would have claimed on them if I had known, anyway of to fos with first one I go!!! but so far claimed just over 7k claimed back in total!!!!

    Hi there

Wishing you luck and well done on your success as well.;)

I am wondering if the rejected one was because the selling tactics were a little different then and if they were then regulated by the FSA, in this case they tend to reject the complaint, but still yes take it to the FOS and see if they can get this one sorted for you now.
    Fingers crossed.

    Hi

Yes, if you were sold insurance alongside with the mortgage, it is classed the same as loan ppi. Known in this case as MPPI (Mortgage payment protection insurance).
If you have reason to believe the insurance was mis sold ,(because you did not have to take out the actual lenders insurance) or for whatever reasons you have, give it a go on the reclaiming, good luck.;)

    Hi

I have not gone back to any other posts you may have posted earlier, as there are so many to get through lol, but normally whoever set up and sold you the policy from the start of the application are the ones who you pursue for the complaint.

The main or all of the paperwork, will still be that of the lender who takes the monthly repayments.;)

Thanks! I spoke to someone at FirstPlus yesterday but they couldnt tell me anything other than to say there is a letter in the post for me. The waiting is agony :)
  • Hi all,

I called HSBC a few weeks back to ask if any of my previous loans had included any PPI, plus advised that I KNEW the credit card I had with them had an insurance premium attached which I requested be cancelled on numerous occasions but never was. They gave me an address to write it, then I received the questionnaire from them with is on MSE.

Is it just a case of completing the questionnaire, or do I need to write to HSBC seperately??
