Hiya, wonder if any one can help or advise. We purchased a 3-piece suite in 2008 from DFS with a payback period of 2years on loan which was all paid on time. This also included PPI which we were led to believe we couldn't purchase suite without it.
However we have completed and sent all the info from this site and sent photo copies of the original contract from sale to the bank which was HFC. We recieved a letter back stating they needed more information, out of 8 boxes 5 were crossed for more info which, when we rang the number on the letter no-one knew who we were??? Anyway after one 45min phone call getting nowhere we were told to take it further as they couldn't find the loan on record!!! THEN WHY WERE ALL 8 BOXES NOT CROSSED FOR MORE INFO INSTEAD OF JUST 3.???
Anyway we hung up and rang back, got another operator and hey presto our details all popped up.
We were told we had to contact DFS direct and they would deal with the claim on our behalf! We just want to know if this is right or is it just another way for HFC to try and wriggle out of any payout.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.0 -
Hi,
I had six loans with Barclays between 1985 and 1993. Each of them had a payment for the following:
"The single life premium payment to purchase life, accident and sickness insurance"
I filled in the questionnaire and sent copies of the original paperwork.
Despite this, Barclays have written back to me stating:
"We can confirm that Payment Protection Insurance was not included on your loan. As we have been unable to establish that you had a PPI policy from us, your complaint has not been upheld."
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks,
Vic0 -
hi, I sent a letter to Lloyds asking for details of a car loan I took out in 2004, they sent me a breakdown of the loan details. The total loan
amounted to 6236.78 They say the interest on the loan was 11.78% per annum, I paid the loan back ov er 24 months at 163.59 per month and the interest added b the bank varied between 48.18 per month, how can I tell if ppi was added. Thanks in anticipation of your invaluable advice.:embarasse0 -

You need to get the agreement, although if PPI was on this loan it should say so in the breakdown that you have.0 -

What paperwork do you have? you need to have the loan agreement and the final statement to show the loan was paid off preferably.
If you only have the agreement then this is no help as the loan is closed, you could have cancelled this PPI so they need proof that you actually paid this to term end.0 -

It is DFS you make the claim to as they sold you the loan and PPI.

Hi All.
I'm really sorry if this has already been asked or I have posted this on the wrong forum, but I just have a quick question regarding PPI's.
Am I getting PPI's confused with Life insurance policies? I took out a mortgage in 2002 and got convinced to take out an insurance policy that would pay out on death, if I couldn't work etc. I didn't realise at the time that I could choose who I used and went along with Norwich Union which was recommended by the estate agents. I'm sure they got paid for every policy that they recommended!
Can I claim anywhere that this was mis-sold?
Thank you all in advance for your help.
Life insurance is not mis sold as it would have done what it said on the tin, had you died the Mortgage would have been paid off.0 -
Hi,
I've been looking through policies, and got myself a bit confused. When taking out an endowment policy, we also took out life insurance, and said no to payment protection on the endowment itself.
My confusion is that looking through the life insurance policy there is a heading called 'premium protection' as well as the 'life assured' and 'critical illness' ones. Is payment protection a standard part of all life insurance policies or is it optional, because I certainly don't remember that part of the discussion.
Thank you!

I took out a loan with Barclays in 2008 and agreed the ppi as I was told if I didn't claim in 5 years ALL the money I paid for the inusrance would be refunded. They told me I would pay £5,500 which I will be refunded in January 2013. I have recently looked at my paperwork and now find that I will have paid £4,000 interest! Do I have a case for reclaiming ALL the money I paid including interest as I was not advised about this Thanks
This is a mis sell and the most upheld of all PPI reclaims, send this letter asap.
We/I believe we were mis sold the ppi on the above account number and would like recordings,if any to the contrary of my/our reasons for mis sell.
1)We/I were not told that the ppi was in effect another loan that was added to the original loan and was repayable over the trem with interest
2) We/I were told that the ppi was a 5 year policy, but not told the ppi would still be on the loan to term end with interest and We/I would no longer have cover.
3) We/I were told that if we did not make a claim,or go into arrears on the ppi ,after 5 years we would receive the cashback of ppi but were not told this would not include the interest made on these payments that we paid over the 5 years or that the PPI would still be on the loan to term end with interest.
In line with the FOS recommendations it is requested that the overall situation be restored as if PPI had never been included. This will entail:
A refund of the monthly payments that have actually been paid towards the overall loan in excess of those that would have been needed, if the original loan had been sold without the PPI policy.
In addition, interest at the rate of 8% simple per annum to any excess payments made from the time each payment was made to the point that Barclays pays them back to us.
We/i believe we were not given enough information on this ppi to make an informed decision. Had we/I known the full cost of this ppi we would not have taken it.
Unless you can prove without doubt that this PPI policy was fair, reasonable and suitable for my/our circumstances we/I will require you to rearrange the loan as if PPI had never been included.
Go get em!!!!.0 -
