I've had my claim in with Tesco's for 8 weeks now. I was told last week that it would be another 3 weeks. I received a letter yesterday informing me that it was being dealt with and how to complain to FOS regarding this.

Should i stick it out with Tesco's or go to FOS which will probably take even longer. I now there is another poster who is 14 weeks into his claim.

    Any advice please.

have just looked at how to reclaim ppi myself, and it just looks so complicated i don't know where to start? those firms that offer no-win no fee are starting to look quite good even if they do take a fee?
Has anyone had any experience with any of them, as i figure any refund is better than the none i might get if i can't get my head round the reclaiming procedure? am i being really thick?

So you think I should just submit it regardless of the previous letter sent. My credit file has the last four digits of my loan account number, I might find it in my online banking, if not, could I just make a claim using the last digits, my inception and end dates? It would save me doing the request for original agreement.
You may find the full account number on your DD list at the bank, failing this you can use the last 4 digits from your credit report.

Hi, you will get all the help you need on here for free, you do not need to pay someone to do what you can do yourself, if you use a company you need to find all the account numbers to pass on to the company anyway, why do that when you can DIY and keep all the redress?.
Firstly, are these Loans, Credit Cards or both?.
Do you have any of the agreements?.

Since I've received about 4 phone calls from companies asking to look into this for me, I thought I'd check out what MSE forum had to say. I'v spent about 3 hours reading through this thread and for the life of me, I cannot remember ever taking PPI in the first place...

However, I have a nagging doubt that I may have taken it if it was free for a few months and then cancelled it (most likely following MSE's advice). So, I am looking through all the credit card companies I have been with in the past 10 years - there's at least 12 so far!
I guess I have to check through old records to get the account numbers to check if I had it.....(yawn)

Maybe I never had it in the first place......???!!!
It is possible you never had PPI, on a Credit Card it is shown on each monthly statement you get, if you have then we can help you do the reclaim for free.
You could ring the Card companies and ask if they have any info on you, see how far you get with this.

Hi, I can't remember what i had so i got a free report from experien, some of the companies I am not sure what i had with them. mixture of loans, credit cards, mail order, virgin media is included, and a mortgage.
have no idea if i have ppi on any of them, or which ones to claim on. will be a nightmare finding the paperwork (i am crap at filing). I havent said yes to ppi for a long time so no idea if any of them apply.
  • Sorry people - lost the thread!!:D
  • Hello,

I'm new to the MSE forums so apologies if I break any rules or etiquette unknowingly! Just looking for some advice - my husband knows he has had 3 credit card loans active in the last 6 years (NatWest, Egg and Halifax). They were closed and paid off about 3-4 years ago. We've tried looking on his credit report for details of these cards but there is no records of them (despite us entering his full 6 year address history when we applied for the report). He no longer has any paperwork so doesn't know his old account numbers. Is there any point in applying for a breakdown of his accounts (including the insurance) without an account number? I noticed on the template letter to do this there is a place to include your account number.

Any help or advice gratefully recieved!

A bit of a daft question, but when you take out a loan is the PPI always 'front loaded' onto it? and if it is front loaded does this make it automatically mis sold?
