He was not told that this would cost him. The PPI company have taken around £6000 in fees. Obviously if you are already struggling to pay back debt this is a massive amount. Does anyone know if there is anything that can be done about this?
Don't know if it is the same in Scotland as England, a claims co should not take a claim from someone who as an IVA DMP or arrears on the account they claiming for as the redress goes to the debt and the consumer is left with another debt to the claims co, we can complain to the MOJ here, do you have a similar body there? as if you do then complain to them about this, the trustee should not have made this claim using a company.

These bogus E-Mail addresses are used by all big companies, just as regular letters addressed to the chief executive are opened by someone far lower down the chain of command.
So, it's really no better (or worse) than sending your concerns to the Bank's general address.
That may be the case, but people have been paid out and claims sorted pronto with an email to this address the same with Bob Diamonds, the poster can try, they have lost nothing by doing this0 -

Was the PPI "front loaded" onto the loan in a single monthly premium? If so, you have a good chance on that basis alone.
So you think I should just submit it regardless of the previous letter sent. My credit file has the last four digits of my loan account number, I might find it in my online banking, if not, could I just make a claim using the last digits, my inception and end dates? It would save me doing the request for original agreement.0 -

Hi and welcome
Do not worry about the last 6 years, many of us have been successful in reclaims from accounts taken in the 90's and so.
You can send your complaint to the Head office, by completing the reclaim questionnaire.
As your in the cooling period of using a CMC, you have the right to cancel with them now before it goes any further, any problems, then you complain to them that you do not want to take it further with them, and wish them to close the case, and contact the Claims Management (Ministry of justice) MOJ.
Who should then deal with them on your behalf.
If you have account numbers to the loans etc, continue to make the reclaim on the PPI, it's possible they may have added it years ago automatically.
When you complete the reclaim questionnaire, remember to save a copy for yourself and get proof for posting at your post office.
You do not need to write in the calculations, they should send you these on success, or you can ask for them to send them to you in the post.
By being with the same bank helps, so hopefully they will still hold details.
Reclaim questionnaire below, good luck.;)

Success, I have just posted my success story on the other topic. Thanks for all the advice on this topic especially amersall. No claim management company needed just a complaint form and a first class stamp. Quite a easy process with Barclays. They kept me informed throughout and automatically put the amount into my bank account which came a a huge shock I can tell you. Just about to move in to my first house so it came just at the right time.0

Since I've received about 4 phone calls from companies asking to look into this for me, I thought I'd check out what MSE forum had to say. I'v spent about 3 hours reading through this thread and for the life of me, I cannot remember ever taking PPI in the first place...
However, I have a nagging doubt that I may have taken it if it was free for a few months and then cancelled it (most likely following MSE's advice). So, I am looking through all the credit card companies I have been with in the past 10 years - there's at least 12 so far!
I guess I have to check through old records to get the account numbers to check if I had it.....(yawn)
Maybe I never had it in the first place......???!!!0 -
Thanks di3004 for your input and all those who have giving me some guidance, just got to play the waiting game now.0
