Sorry to double post, but this seems to have gotten lost in the crush:

Hi. I'm new, here. I've got a potential issue with my PPI. I'm not sure if it's been covered before. I've had a scroll through some of the forums, but there's so much, I got a bit overwhelmed.

I moved to England in January 2007 and applied for a credit card that summer. During the meeting to set this up, the guy in the bank (Lloyds, if it matters) told me that PPI was optional. He then told me that since I had no credit history in the UK (or elsewhere, as I was living with my parents 'til I moved), that if I didn't accept the PPI, my application for the credit card would probably be declined. I'm not very savvy with financial dealings, so I agreed.

The problem is that I have none of this in writing, so it's my word against theirs. Is it worth my while even applying to get a refund?

    Hi there

Even though the adviser confirmed it was optional, you were still told that without the PPI your account would probably be declined, so in this case you accepted it, optionally or not, basically then it was like as if you did not have that choice, or not account/credit card.

You need to give them as much information as possible (stand your ground) be polite but firm, that you clearly remember the sale process very well, and you now believe it was unfair to be told it was optional but to accept it, or no credit card.
This is a good reason and add anything that may apply to you.

Did they actually explain how the policy worked, and the interest?
And what about pre medical conditions, were there any at the time you take this out?
Were you in full time employment, or unemployed, or maybe working part time hours?

The list is endless, so anything that applies to you, then make sure you mention all that does.
You can always add for further information: if they have reason to believe it was sold to you correctly, if they will also provide you with the concrete evidence of this.

Keep at them, good luck, you will get there.:)

Thanks Amersall, So what they have done setting us up with a single PPI is not good then? I assume when my wife calls them and she tells them she wants to make a complaint about the single PPi they will understand why she is complaining?

    Hi

These type of policies are now frowned upon and are no longer sold, so the fact that these ppi policies only protect for example 5 years of say a 20 year loan, you would still be paying for the PPI for the life of the loan, yet not protected for the remaining 15 of the years left of the loan!

So basically if this was not explained to you, neither the interest, added to the loan/ppi, this is so wrong wrong wrong, it works out very costly and are frowned upon by regulators and a complaint in itself being sold one of these.

    Good luck.;)

    Hey,

This is my first time on forum, but i have a possibly stupid query i thought i'd put out there before i investigate further.

I've had many loans from the age of 18-25 (i'm now 28) but they are all paid off and i no longer have any record of them.

Therefore i'm not sure if i paid ppi or not.

My query is... is there a record somewhere of what loans you've had over the years and whether or not youpaid ppi...

    Appreciate any feedback whatsoever.

    Andy

    Hi Andy

If you bank with the same bank where you paid the loan monthly repayments, you could call in to the branch and ask them to check the systems, you may be lucky, you never know until you ask.

Not saying you would have kept any paperwork lol, but maybe in a box in a loft somewhere perhaps of any old statements??
Just a suggestions, but many have found old paperwork this way.

Anyway, if you can just try getting hold of the account numbers and sure you paid ppi, you can just continue to make a reclaim by completing the reclaim questionnaire and send to the ones responsible to selling it to you.
Otherwise, just write to them with as many details as possible in order for them to try tracking down your details.

    Fingers crossed.;)

Hi positive what a shame it's so easy to do yourself, I have used a cmc in the past for several of my first reclaims they were very slow and i'm still waiting on recovery on my first claim 3 years down the road, good luck but we would not recommend people go down this route. In all fairness some cmc's are better and cheaper than others but it really is only the cost of a postage stamp.

Im still within my cooling off period but we do not have any documentation and the loans are older than 6 years, now Im wondering what to do.
  • Hi,

I have a PPI complaint for Black Horse. Do you think it would be ok to email it to Lloyds?? I did this for my other Lloyds claims and they processed them really quickly.

Has anyone emailed a Black Horse complaint to Lloyds??

    Thanks
