PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5

Well had a response from the loan company and they say "At that time they only conducted non advised insurance sales, and they reject the complaint".
They also go on to say that they were not members of GISC. FIA or any other self regulating body.
Also that this complaint falls out side the remit of the FOS and they will not give them permission to deal with this complaint.
There was an amount of over £2000 added to our loan before we took it out. Can we go any where with this or is that it0 -
Hi, I have an Virgin American Express with HSBC, I have had it for about 4 or 5 years and when I openeined it on the phone they asked me if I wanted PPI, I said no, however the girl on the phone said that I should take it and I explained to her that I am self-employed and she said that I would be covered even though I was self-employed so I took it out. DOes anyone know if I would have been covered even though I was self-employed? ALso I am still paying PPI, should I cancel it before I claim for a miss sell, if I was miss sold?0

Hi. I'm new, here. I've got a potential issue with my PPI. I'm not sure if it's been covered before. I've had a scroll through some of the forums, but there's so much, I got a bit overwhelmed.
I moved to England in January 2007 and applied for a credit card that summer. During the meeting to set this up, the guy in the bank (Lloyds, if it matters) told me that PPI was optional. He then told me that since I had no credit history in the UK (or elsewhere, as I was living with my parents 'til I moved), that if I didn't accept the PPI, my application for the credit card would probably be declined. I'm not very savvy with financial dealings, so I agreed.
The problem is that I have none of this in writing, so it's my word against theirs. Is it worth my while even applying to get a refund?0 -

I was just being impatient wondering if anyone roughly knows how much i should expect, also so that i know what they offer me is enough. Loan 1 was in april 2002 for 4000 with ppi of 982 with interest, frontloaded onto the loan, loan 2 was taken in aug 2003, paying off the other and i recieved 271.00 interest rebate. this loan was over 60 months 7000 and the ppi was 2500 with interest. Any idea of what i may receive?
thanks guys
Hi taperjeangirl,
I have currently got 4 complaints with Blackhorse.
Please could I ask the reasons you gave for mis-sell.
Thanks in advance.0 -
Hi, I am sure the answer to this is somewhere on here but I'm not sure where to start.
Firstly, is there a time limit on the claims, a few years ago I realised my husband had been paying ppi on his credit card for YEARS yet he's self - employed, I cancelled it at the time, he still has the credit card. Is it too late now to claim?
Also, my friend told me today that she has tried to reclaim for the ppi on her mortgage, but got a letter from building society today stating that it was her financial advisor that sold her ppi and therefore was the one to mis-advised her. She can't remember exactly where the financial advisor came from but thought it was one recommended by he biolding society. Any idea if there is anything she can do.
Thanks in advance!Proud to be dealing with my debts, light bulb moment: 2/1/2010, reviewed 7/1/20120 -
If these loans or cards were closed within the last 6 years, then go on Noddle.co.uk this will give you a free credit report, use the last 4 digits on the file next to the loan/Credit card.
Hi amersall,
I wanted to ask if this website is okay and safe because it asks for your card details.
I know it says it's free for life BUT if they have your card details surely they could take money any time they like, or am I being paranoid?0 -
Hi all, I'm new to this site BUT really need some help.
I had a mortgage for many years before my marriage ended in 2009. I don't know if it had PPI but I am assuming it did PURELY on the fact that it was arranged by a financial advisor. The thing is, I don't want to go back to the F.A. as he is a very good friend of my ex & I know the minute I enquire, he'll be straight on the phone to him telling him what I plan to do. How can I find out IF it was on our mortgage without going back to him? I had a bad enough time getting my maiden name put on the mortgage & Santander aren't the easiest people to deal with. ANY SUGGESTIONS????? Thanks0 -

Sorry i missed this, hope I am not too late !!!.
Single Premium PPI is put on at the start of the loan and you pay this back with interest to term end, unlike a PPI that you pay each month and can cancel at any point and do not incur interest or a penalty, the Single Premium if cancelled at any point would get you a small rebate of the PPI but you still pay the PPI to term end as the remainder of the PPI is still on the loan.0
