Had a letter saying I'm due a refund of my Mortgage PPI taken out in 1991.

Thanks to this site for giving us the tools to claim it back:T

Hi, I sent off my letter to FSCS last week regarding a loan from Welcome Finance and recieved the money in my bank today and a breakdown letter. I am hoping someone can check the amount I recieved is correct as I was expecting more - probably being greedy but thought I would pass it by the experts first...
Below is a breakdown of my loan/repayments and was hoping you could hazard a guess as to what I got:

Amount of credit provided - £4293.00, £808 PPI included in this amount.
Monthly repayments over 24months of £274.
I settled the loan after 18 payments of £274 with a settlement payment of £1378.04.
Also bare in mind the FSCS only give back 90% of the claim...

    Okay, I'll bite.
The £808 PPI would have attracted a rebate because you settled the loan after only 75% of the term.
You would receive 90% of whatever that £808 minus rebate is, plus 8% interest.

    £650?

    (Wild guess rather than educated)

Don't FSCS provide a detailed breakdown of the redress?

hope this is in the right place, phoned blackhorse finance today and was given 7 account numbers all with ppi atached to them. Can any one help with a bit of info each one I think was for another cash advance but am sure each one was a new loan and the one before was paid off all the paperwork was always sent through the post and we just signed and returned it the finale one was paid off in I think 2009.

    Hi there

If you believe you were mis sold, you can still put in a reclaim for all 7 of them, if ppi was attached to the 7 of them.

Yes it's possible you taken out another loan to pay off the other as such but PPI would then maybe continued onto the other if you get my drift.
They will still work them out on each one and send you breakdowns on success.

You do not require the calculations when making a reclaim, so with reasons you may have, you just complete the reclaim questionnaire as on step 3 below, if the reasons were all the same on each one, you can reclaim on the same questionnaire, but make sure you enclose every account number of that loan that applies, but if you prefer complete separately.

(Personally I suggest separately) so they do not get confused.

Keep copies for yourself as well.

Good luck with your reclaiming and please keep us posted, cheers.

HELP! Hope I am in the right place for this!!

I lodged a claim against Marks and Spencer for PPI mis-selling on their chargecard and they turned me down point blank.

I then submitted a claim to the Financial Ombudsman who said that I might have a good chance if I could find out who the underwriters of the insurance were at the time the insurance was sold (1984)

I have written back to M and S to ask for this information and they have so far refused to provide it. I did receive a letter three weeks ago telling me that they were looking into my enquiry and would come back to me, but as yet, nothing.

Does anybody know if they are legally bound to supply me with this information?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

This sounds like a consolidation chain whereby each new loan paid off the last.
If you can show you were pressured into taking PPI and that it was front-loaded onto each new loan to attract interest, then this could be a win.
We'd need far more information to comment further...

I'm on tenterhooks waiting for responses so I thought I'd check my postage receipts and my Cap One complaint is still making its way through the postal system since 28th March - bah.

Fingers crossed, I'm sure all will be fine.;);)

    Hi there

I would write back and tell them, you have the right to request for a copy of the payment protection policy, and free of charge too, being a customer, because if you were to make a claim for sickness/unemployment they would have had to provide it, not that this applies to you any longer, but you still have the right to request for this, all it is is a booklet of how to claim, but it encloses details of the underwriter/insurer.

You could tell them, if they fail to provide this, you will be contacting the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).

    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx

    Good luck.
