    Hi all,

My question is: I have always opted out of insurance, but is there a chance that despite that, I'd have paid insurance all the same? And if you've answered this one, then could you tell me how far back these claims go? I was told it was ten years.

    Thanks!
    Adam

    Hi Adam

Many on here have gone way back, a few of mine are from the mid 90's and up and have been successful.

    Give it a go.;)

I am unsure whether I paid ppi on another credit card.. The card was a mint card. Can someone please advise on how I would go about finding out whether I did.
You can write them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter; It costs £10:

    Then post it to
    MINT - Statements
    Data Protection Officer
    Pre-paid Operations
    PO Box 117
    Glasgow
    G1 3YF
  • My husband had a loan with TSB that ended up as a CCJ that was then fully paid off. It was defo longer than 6 years ago. The loan had PPI and he was talked into to pay off a credit card he was struggling to pay (not sure if that had ppi or not). He called the branch and was told hed never had a loan and that he would be wasting his time.

    Would he?

Send them a Subject Access Request (SAR) letter and see what comes back:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

It costs £10 and may (or may not) list loans older than six years ago. It's your call as to whether it's worth the £10.

    Send to
    Copy Statement Unit
    Lloyds TSB plc
    Swallow House
    10 Swallow Street
    Birmingham

    Hi there

So this was with Lloyds then?

If they are refusing that there was a loan with any ppi, and your hubby is sure there was, a SAR may in your case be a good idea.

When I requested a SAR (Subject Access Request) from lloyds, they sent me data going back into the 90's, and hopefully they will still hold details with you (hubby) as well.

To SAR, the link below is to the template letter to request for the paperwork of all accounts held by lloyds.
So if your hubby banked with them, he could use the bank account number (as the SAR will ask for the account number) and whatever accounts he taken out with the same bank, they should therefore comply and send all what they still hold, with a one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order.
They have 40 calendar days to comply.

Details of any PPI and loans will be or should be included within the SAR.

The post above posted by Moneyineptitude takes you to the link of a SAR template.

If you find PPI did apply and were mis sold, then give it a go on the reclaiming, where you complete the reclaim questionnaire.

Good luck, ask for more help if required.

I'm happy to give it a go, but will I get anywhere if I never had insurance? I guess I'm asking whether the loan companies might have surreptitiously applied the insurance in some kind of hidden way; if not, then it's unlikely I'd be able to reclaim anything...

    Adam.
    Thanks,
    Adam.

    Hi Adam

You will need to ask them for a breakdown if successful, they do normally send these and enclose what you have paid of the PPI to each account and interest.

Another way really would be to request for your paperwork under a Subject access request (SAR).

However, with a few of mine, (Lloyds) they did actually email me back with a list of loans taken out with PPI) free of charge, which may save on doing a sar request.
