I received a cheque of 149.00 from halifax for ppi payment on my cc. The account was opened in August 2006 and I have been paying monthly ppi of 28.00.
They said that is the amount due to me from when the card was opened until ppi was cancelled. They did not mention when precisely the ppi was cancelled and the account is still live.

I have written to them to give me a breakdown of all ppi charges paid since 2006 and to also confirm when it was cancelled. I also ask the they recalculate my claim.

I have already cashed the cheque of 149.00 and hoping they will top it up.

Can anyone else suggest the next approach?

    Hi all,

I am just joining in on the PPI claim thing, was going to do it from a company that cold called me.

When claiming over the phone, can you just ask the question " am I entitled to a claim", or is it a bit more difficult than that!!!
If you have reasons for mis sell and the account number (card number if a Credit Card) then you make the claim, it is that easy !.

If you have statements for this card showing that you paid more PPI than they have given you then send copies of these to them.
If they are only paying for a set period then you must have proof of PPI paid that you want to claim for.
Wait and see what they come back with, if it is not favourable, then you should send a Sar to them https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553

Ask for all info that they hold on you, this may throw up statements.
Enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond.

Is PPI on the account now?.

    Hi..

Facts are that I took out a Loan with NR in 2002 for £15k, and I have only just found the paperwork this weekend once doing some shredding!

On the agreement what I didn't realise is that on top of the £15k, £6.5k was PPI the total payable back for the loan was £30k over a 10 year period.

I do not recall ever agreeing to the PPI let alone over a 10 year period, plus having interest added to this one off premiumof £6.5k!!!

I ran into financial difficulties in 2009, and had to go down the DMP route, in 2010 I managed to get a friend to help me come to some deals with my creditors to clear the balances of my debts - one of which was NR.

On the basis of the above, does anyone think I can launch a claim?

And what is the process for doing this?

    Any help, most appreciated!
If you have the account numbers, contact NR, tell them that these are loans that are closed and ask if they will deal with the reclaim as loans that have been passed to NRAM ( these are within NR) may not include yours due to being closed.

The reason for mis sell with these are the fact they were front loaded, as you say above the PPI was put on the loan and paid to term end with interest.

They will do the claim over the phone.

    Hi Folks,

I made an very unexpected discovery while cleaning out some cupboards yesterday, of two 'customer copies' of loans taken out a very long time ago to purchase my first motorbike and first car, which both seem to have types of PPI included!!

Loan 1 (Bike): April 1994, A44 Motorcycles, Leominster, Herefordshire
I was just 16yrs old and loved a motorbike in the shop near where I worked. So when the salesperson said that I could buy it on finance I jumped at the chance.
He filled in all of the Lloyds Bowmaker document and told me the 'Optional Credit Insurance Premium' had to be included to enable the loan to go ahead:
    Cash Price £1464 - Deposit £164 = Sub Total £1300
    Optional Credit Insurance Premium £148.25
    Amount of Credit £1448.25 + Interest £593.91 + Doc. Fee £15
    Total for Credit £608.91
    Balance £2057.16
    Total Cash Price £1612.25
    Total Amount Payable £2221.16
    24 x payments of £85.09

He ticked/crossed out various boxes and my father was listed as a 'Second Customer', which required his signature to accompany mine at the bottom of the form.

Loan 2 (car) August 1995, Hartwells Ford Hereford
I was 18yrs old and didn't require my father to counter sign anything for this purchase.
    Total Cash Price: £6995 - Deposit £995 = Credit £6000
    Charge for credit: £2880 + £15 Admin = £2935
    Balance of Amount Payable: £8935
    Total Payable: £9930
    48 x payments £185

Unlike the Lloyds document, this one has a separate section on the page stated 'Protected Payments Plan' which I had signed due to the salesperson stating that it was required to validate the document or something like that (I certainly was NOT told it was optional)!!!

I'll be extremely gratefull to any advice about how I stand with these very old documents.

Are they to be trashed or cashed??

You may have a problem here due to the year.

If you have reasons for mis sell you could put claims in to the dealers and see what they come back with, it is possible the dealers are no longer around and if they are they could tell you they were unregulated at the time of the sale.

Hi Guys just a warning to the new guys on here, there seems to be a whole slew of new adverts on the tv now regarding claiming for your loans and credit cards through claims management companies, although some people with particularly tricky cases would benefit from these, a lot more people would not, steer well clear we'll give you all the help you need, for anyone considering going with a cmc, Don't.
  • Hi all, i recently called Natwest direct about my credit card and PPI, I had an on the phone interview thingy and they asked me a couple of questions which i guess they base their refund critera on - I think he asked me what was I told about PPI, which I told him it was mentioned originally I think, but I was not told what it was for or that it would be costing me money on my credit card bill, and I also mentioned that when I tried to cancel it months later I was told I cant.
Will they make the assumption that as I was told about PPI I wont have a claim? Ive been told 8 weeks before I hear anything, and it was only last week that I called. I dont even know how much I would be owed. The PPI is still active on the card, although the card is completely clean of debt - I did a balance transfer to another bank when they said I couldnt cancel the PPI.
Any advise about Natwest would be appreciated.

Hi judy don't know too much about Natwest but i do know the lenders have to look at lots of criteria now regarding misold, so i would'nt worry too much, wait and see what transpires.

Hi, can anyone actually recomment a PPI claim company as I believe I won't be able to claim myself due to it being too complicated. I vaguely remember my Father showing me a bank statement several years ago in which he was paying off a loan, his balance wasn't going down so I made him go into the bank. He came back and said he didn't understand any of it and he only owed about £100 so he paid it off. I have searched and found two loan agreements, one dated 1997 for 48 months with no PPI and another dated 1999 for 60 months with PPI added (this loan appears to replace the first loan (repay existing liability). Now that loan should've been paid off by 2004, yet as mentioned he showed me a statement where he was still paying a loan not many years ago. Unfortunately my Father can't even remember taking any of the loans (he's now 76) and doesn't have a clue what he was paying and when! I can't find any other loan agreements/statements amongst his papers. Would a company specializing in PPI be able to recover the details from the bank and check if he did actually have yet another loan? Can he claim for the 1999 loan. I can't see why he needed PPI (£994 worth) if he was retired. Any help appreciated.

    Hello there

Personally going by lots of other experiences on here and there - with people using claims companies have unfortunately had more hassle than they would if they did this themselves, it's less paperwork involved (by doing this yourself), in my opinion going by other's experiences, quicker than what the claims companies make out and you get to keep all the refund (by doing this yourself).

It's simply only the fact of completing a reclaim questionnaire with the reasons for reclaiming, keep a copy and send to the one's who sold the policy.
You do not actually have to have the paperwork a such as long as you have the account numbers and know you were paying for ppi and mis sold.
Many on here have been successful, and more so without a claims company.

The link to the reclaim questionnaire is on step 3 below, do not worry about the prior steps, as long as you have the account number and reasons.
Hope this helps and hopefully all will be resolved and refunded soon, good luck.

I would just like to add, that by doing this yourself, you should receive a confirmation letter from the business by a week or 2 at most, they will then clarify they have 8 weeks to give you a final decision as from the date you sent the reclaim questionnaire complaint.

This is the quickest way and you do not require the calculations on the complaint form either, as this is worked out and they send you a detailed breakdown, or you can request for this.
