A few years ago my mother made a PPI claim from her bank. It was approved and once the bank made payment they made her sign a form to say that she will not make any further PPI claims with them in the future. I'm curious to know if this is correct/standard procedure or if they were not in fact allowed to ask her to do that? Thanks
Since PPI redress is a full refund plus interest, it's difficult to see where you might want to go with this. If you've already complained and been refunded, why would you want or need to complain again?

The Bank just wanted to ensure the payment was full and final by sending that form, but if you had found a valid reason to complain again she would not have been prevented from bringing this to the attention of the Bank..

At midnight tonight there won't be any further PPI complaints anyway....
  • It was not sold as PPI..it was titled CCP.card protection..the paper work they re sent me was the reconstituted type..with repopulated tick box..I did complain to Ombudsman as well as the bank..but believe they just played the waiting game to not reply within the relevant time period

    Ah, CPP is not PPI.

The deadline for CPP complaints was 30 August 2014.

  • With further regard to the card protection policy..they also confirmed that they were unable to locate a policy for me as being purchased from first direct...but strangely were able to confirm PPI....my understanding from Martin Lewis blogs was PPI was mis sold if you were indeed self employed...hence the reason I strongly disagree with their response

I don't see that as strange. They are two different things.

Not necessarily. Many PPI policies did cover the self employed. You would have to look at your policy to check your cover.

Edit. I now see that the you have been told that your PPI did cover the self employed. So what are you kvetching about?

Some policies excluded the self employed...you had it confirmed that yours didn't so it wasn't mis sold.
  • Baffled..if CCP is not PPI then why would first direct quote this as PPI and tell me I was covered as a self employed person..their reply states ..you purchased PPI on a non advised basis...so if CCP is not PPI surely it was mis sold

First Direct have stated that they are unable to locate a CPP policy for you as being purchased from them. If you had a CPP policy you likely bought it elsewhere.

First Direct have it seems rejected your PPI complaint on the grounds that it was a non advised sale, and that you were covered as self employed.

I have ADHD. It is nearly 2pm on the 29th of August and I am trying to claim (that is the nature of the affliction) although I suspect I'm not the only one this late.

I've had various loans over the years, though I can't remember the details. The resolver thing asks questions I just can't answer.

My choices seem to be: don't put in a claim and get nothing, or, use a claims company and at least get 75% of the money.

Anyone got any suggestions of someone that can do it for me (I'm fine paying - as I said it is better than getting nothing).

If claims companies were still taking complaints (most aren’t) then you’d still need to do the same amount of work.

Forget resolver and go straight to the lender.
