  • Natwest site is a right mess today, submitted the form but then it timed out with an application error so no idea if it has gone through.

    Will try again later

    Hi,
Put in PPI complaints x 2 to Santander using Resolver about 6 weeks ago.
Still not had any response at all from Santander, not even an acknowledgement and you just cannot get through on the phone. Two further email addresses provided by Santander staff to chase things up have proved to be incorrect / invalid.
Has anyone else had this problem with Santander via Resolver?
    Thanks.

Phoned them today to find out where things were up to, and the first person I spoke to said they had no trace of my claim. Asked to speak to a manager, who miraculously found it. I think this claim is going to be hard work !

Keep in mind as you submitted your claim via Resolver there is a strong chance that the data received by Santander may be incorrect as resolver is renowned for not pulling inputed data through correctly so may not have been the easiest to match up to your file.

The Resolver experience is rather frustrating and must be putting lots of people off.

    1. MSE article states: "Therefore, in most cases to trigger a claim you simply need to get in touch with the bank to ask it whether you had PPI – our free PPI reclaim tool includes this."
    2. Link goes to full PPI claim form and not the PPI check form
    3. Dozens of Resolver validation errors on incomplete optional (as stated on the form) fields.

I was under the impression that by asking if you have had ppi, that automatically qualifies as a complaint.

Some organizations will take it as a complaint. Others wont.

    Do you feel lucky?

Whats the harm in making a complaint if you didn't have it ?
  • First direct admit I had PPI on three separate accounts ..I was self employed and after their investigation they now say PPI covers self employed..so no payout ..this was 2015.. I wrote back to strongly disagree with their answer and forwarded complaint to Ombudsman..but neither responded..should I try one last time or has that boat sailed.

First Direct said you were covered.....why did you strongly disagree?
  • A few years ago my mother made a PPI claim from her bank. It was approved and once the bank made payment they made her sign a form to say that she will not make any further PPI claims with them in the future. I'm curious to know if this is correct/standard procedure or if they were not in fact allowed to ask her to do that? Thanks

They didn't "admit" you had PPI, they simply acknowledged it.

It is not somehow automatically wrong to have PPI, though it was certainly widely mis-sold to many people.

Four years ago you were told that your PPI complaint was rejected because it had no validity. You had six months to refer this "complaint" to the Ombudsman. You failed to ensure that the Ombudsman received your referral in that time.

Not only can you not complain again, you need to understand that being self employed would only be a valid complaint if the PPI did not cover your circumstances. The Bank rejected your complaint because the PPI did cover your circumstance.

If you re-send your "complaint", you'll therefore receive a terse reference to your original rejection in 2015 and you'll have no new access to the Ombudsman.

    Not all PPI was mis-sold.
