I have ADHD. It is nearly 2pm on the 29th of August and I am trying to claim (that is the nature of the affliction) although I suspect I'm not the only one this late.
I've had various loans over the years, though I can't remember the details. The resolver thing asks questions I just can't answer.
Its too late to use Resolver
My choices seem to be: don't put in a claim and get nothing, or, use a claims company and at least get 75% of the money.
Sorry but that isnt your choice. Your choice is put in a claim direct or dont put in a claim at all. You cannot use a claims company. Its too late. (If you did use one, you'd have to tell them the name of the company you are complaining about and if you knew the name you could claim direct to that company)
Anyone got any suggestions of someone that can do it for me (I'm fine paying - as I said it is better than getting nothing).

As said, its to late to use a claims company, that route is closed. They would need to know who to complain to and there's no time.
So, either make claims direct with any companies you can remember, or make claims with ones you guess at, or dont do anything at all.

Can you remember some of them? If so, claim with those.

Most banks, including NatWest, have agreed that submitting via Resolver by 11:59 tonight counts.
    Resolver is also jammed today.

Yes, but in Crystalset's case the possibility of getting it registered via Resolver is probably better than the certainty of NatWest's online form not accepting her Irish phone number.

If neither works, neither is a viable option.

Nothing to stop the OP trying of course, but just warning that it's a very time consuming and frustrating experience at the moment..

Well you complain to the ones you can remember and forget about the rest. Leaving it to the last minute has somewhat forced your hand.
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

Or check credit file for any relevant financial institutions.
  • Thank you Gonna-be-__. I've done that successfully & have received a RES number. Wait & see, I remember being annoyed at the time when I copped what I was paying, cancelled the payment after 12-18months iirc. It's about 25 years ago. At 75 every little bit helps.

Great! I'm really glad you were able to get it through. I have been highly skeptical of Resolver since I've found the info doesn't always make it's way intact to the recipient, but at worst you have it as a record of proof of submission, even if you have to sort the actual details out with the company after the deadline.

At this stage I would put in a query to each of the big banks and specify you want them to autoconvert the query to a complaint if PPI is found (the Resolver template has that in already):
    • Bank of Scotland
    • Barclays
    • Capital One
    • Citibank
    • Clydesale
    • Co-operative
    • Lloyds
    • MBNA
    • Nationwide
    • Natwest
    • RBS
    • Santander

That's partly from the list on the "Emergency Kit" and partly from my own thoughts. Obviously add any that ring bells for you! :)

If you use the Resolver PPI checker (I know, I know, I hate Resolver but it's up and running and probably quicker at this stage than going to each banks individual form) you only have to input your name, dob, address, phone number. It should take about 2-3 minutes per bank. NB use the checker, not the complaint, and you'll have to put in much less info. Apparently all of them apart from Santander have agreed they'll convert a check to a complaint if PPI is found.

Not all of them are available through Resolver - Santander, Capital One, CitiBank have their own forms which you can find through the FCA website
    https://www.fca.org.uk/ppi/how-to-complain/search-for-provider.
Their forms only take about 2-3 minutes each too.

Resolver has worked fine for me for the last half hour which I have spent helping a friend do exactly this.

    Good luck

You can't make such a specification.
You either simply complain from the off or hope that the query is converted into a complaint.

Potential complainants should note that it is not somehow wrong simply to have insurance. In order for the PPI to be definitely refunded, it must be shown to be mis-sold.

Just over three hours from now, it will all be over.
