You either simply complain from the off or hope that the query is converted into a complaint.
You can. I did. Even the Resolver template did. It must be magic! The words didn't automatically disappear or anything!
(Yes, obviously I know what you mean is that it makes no difference to the bank, but it can't hurt to be particular about it either.)0 -

I contacted Nissan Finance weeks ago to request details of the car finance I took out with them in 2002. I definitely had PPI added on to this. Nissan replied that they do not keep paperwork for finance this far back and could not help further so stopped dead my intention to claim and were of no help. Other PPI claim agencies said that they could not help me claim on car finance, only banks. Is this really the case and would I have had a claim without paperwork? I know that I have passed the deadline now unfortunately.0

If it was sold by a dealer, then it's pre regulation.
You've fortunate the claims companies turned you down.0 -

Car dealers were not regulated until Jan 2005. So, you predate that anyway.Other PPI claim agencies said that they could not help me claim on car finance, only banks.
This is because of the limited window that car dealers could have potentially missold PPI and the difficulty in finding out which car dealer it is.0 -
Sorry to be a pain, but wanted to run this by anyopne remotely interested.
I received a letter from Canada Square Ops, off their back and through no claim of mine, relating to an Egg CC I held way back in 80/90s.
They have come back to me now and offered £300 PPI (CRP) refund.
However, I'm not being greedy, but these 2 paragraphs in the letter intrigued me a bit:
"The cheque we are sending you represents our full and final settlement of your complaint and all related claims relating to your CRP policy. If you choose to cash your cheque after you receive it, you will be agreeing that the amount paid is in full and final settlement of all claims against us, and you will not be able to make any further claims.
All of your policies have also been assessed to determine if they may have been affected by an unfair level of commission. If we have uphel your PPI and refunded all of your premiums, you will not receive an additional amount if there was an unfair commission."
Maybe I'm just being cynical, but this seems to me that they could possibly be offering me some PPI refund, so I go away and don't bother with PPI plus the unfair commission claim, as I will give up any right to further claims if I cash the cheque.
What do you think please?0 -

You are being cynical. The wording is pretty much standard.
You have actually failed to mention whether your complaint was upheld or not. The paragraphs cover if you have been upheld or rejected. Only rejected complaints get an unfair commission check.0 -

A Plevin refund won't even be possible on your credit card unless it was still active in 2008...0 -
