and did i see somewhere they stopped selling after 2012 so really all we can get money back for is between 2006 and 2011 if it is from a build society?

Banks and building societies stopped selling PPI between 2008 and 2012. Some early. Some late.

That said, some types of PPI you can still buy today as they are not bad types of PPI. Such as mortgage PPI. Although the banks have pulled out totally.

Banks only ever retailed monthly premium MPPI (it is the single premium MPPI that is bad). So, if you had it, there would have been a seperate monthly direct debit to an insurance company.
i had credit cards since 2005 but have always paid them off in full so i assume no ppi on those
Correct. Plus, there would have been an entry on the statement in the months you did pay it. Its not hidden. You would have seen it.
  • Finding out if you had PPI proved to be much easier than I thought. I simply phoned the companies I had credit cards with and they told me if I had PPI, when it started and when it ended.
  • Eight weeks to the day the letter dropped through the letter box with a cheque for £14771.82, Great result. Used the resolver form from MSE and it was easy. Just one telephone interview that lasted about 25 minutes and no other hassle at all. Halifax paid up and the system if used works. Thanks MSE for making it so easy

Hi ..Ive claimed through resolva but Coventry now want me to fill out the whole claim again which is basically the same but includes signatures and a signature for their data protection. Is this normal please as I wanted them ideally not to separate it off from resolva. Also this is going to catch a lot of people as they are also saying THEIR form has to be back by the deadline ??? Hmm
  • Hi, I answered an online ad from Fast Track claims to see if I was owed PPI. Had an email saying they'd discovered I was owed money. As far as I was concerned that's all they were doing. They have apparently put in a claim on my behalf even though I didn't return any of the paperwork they sent me. Santander were in touch and I sent 3 lots of peperwork back and they have now made an offer which I have accepted. Fast track claims have now written and asked me to sign enclosed paperwork accepting the offer meaning they will take a cut (bearing in mind I've already signed and accepted myself). How do I handle this

Sometimes the whole resolver data does not appear at the firm end.

Also, the deadline is irrelevant as it is the point the complaint is raised. Not when further information is supplied.
  • Some firms will only proceed if they have a "wet" signature and some will accept a scanned copy. Resolver only gives a name and I could set up an account in any name, so it is absolutely normal.
As has been stated above, any complaint submitted before the deadline will be investigated
I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!
  • I was discharged from bankruptcy just over 6 years ago. My question is, can I reclaim any PPI or not? I thought it was all considered a part of the bankruptcy but want to check again before it's too late! :0#

You cannot complain about PPI sold prior to your bankruptcy. It is a pre-bankruptcy asset that goes to the OR. Only if you paid premiums after discharge can you do so.

    It is, so you cannot.

This has been asked so often, it's actually a "sticky thread" on the Bankruptcy board. You can read the thread for a (very full) explanation by clicking on the link below:
