You can check your paperwork or bank statements.

No one else will have kept records from almost 40 years ago.

    Time to move on then.

On the plus side, you probably didn't have PPI.

    can I see if I had PPI on mortgages from 1982 & 1988 ?
remember being asked in the interview for a mortgage with Leeds Permanent BS in 1982 "do you illness insurance" "NO, I get full pay for 6 months + 1/2 or 1/4 for the next 18 months"
can't remember being asked in 1988

Look at your bank statements for a direct debit to an MPPI policy.

Its unlikely in 1982 as that is before the period building societies sold their own insurance and MPPI was barely available back then. Even 88 predates the misselling period.

12 months sick pay is not a valid complaint for MPPI. The FOS reject complaints on that basis.

I had PPI on a mortgage I took out in 1990. The Mortgage was for a flat with housebuilder Wimpey Homes. The mortgage was with Bristol & West and the now owner Bank of Ireland say there was no PPI policy with them. The mortgage was arranged via Wimpey with John Charcol. Can I claim from either Wimpey or John Charcol and if so how ?

You would complain to whoever sold you the policy, giving your mis sale reasons.

However, since it's 15 years pre-regulation, I would save your time and effort.

No you cant as Wimpey didnt arrange it and John Charcol were not regulated at the time (and the John Charcol that exists today is the same company).

Yes... you send it to Barclays Bank :D
  • I recently raised ppi enquiries with Santander, HFC Bank and mbna. I just got a text from Allay Claims saying my claim pack was in the post. Are they acting on behalf of any of the above lenders, or is this random spam?
