Thanks yet agin Gonna-be - that is very helpful. submitted to both MBNA and Santander. I have also remembered that I had a Lombard loan for a motorcycle in 1983 and I can remember where I was living then so I have put that in too.

Suddenly remembered after 36 years? Why are you wasting anyone's time on that?

Great :D You can do any other ones as they come to you. Maybe keep a notebook by the bed or something.

It's far too long ago I'm afraid. There will be no record of this pre-regulation sale.

Are you sure you haven't mis-typed the year? You seem far younger than that.. ;)

Definately 1983, it was my second motor bike and first i had bought brand new. cost 125 pounds, quite a bit of money then and more than i could afford in cash. wouldnt do that nowadays. only did it becoause i had just moved to a better job and was now earning a decent wage

so is there an earliest date for which we can complain?

Well, PPI only became widespread in the 1990's. Other than that, a complaint can be made about any PPI where records still exist. The older the PPI, the less chance of there being any records. There is also the not insignificant matter of general insurance sales not being regulated prior to 2005. Only banks were regulated prior to this date and so most other insurance sellers can simply reject a pre 2005 PPI complaint without considering it.
  • Hi,

Not sure if this kind of query has already been asked, so I'll ask anyway

If You have had more than 1 loan & credit cards at the same time from different banks also catalogues, do you have to send a different letter to each lender?
If you can't remember them all & still owe some of them money, can you still reclaim the ppi? Or will it re-activate an old debt (over 6 years)?
Sorry for all the questions, but I am am really confused :(

    Thanks for any help

Any complaint you make has to go to the seller of the insurance, so individual separate complaints are required for each.

If you have arrears or have defaulted on these accounts, any redress will be off set against the outstanding debt.

Probably because even just part 5 of this thread alone is over 500 pages long
It's on the main site, not the forum.

Although I posted a link to the complaint process article in direct response to the user still unsure on the last page...

No one has to wade through this thread, though the answers to every conceivable PPI question is certainly contained therein.

    Thank you.

and did i see somewhere they stopped selling after 2012 so really all we can get money back for is between 2006 and 2011 if it is from a build society? in that case i defianetly need to not bother any more becouse i know i have had no new mortgages in that time. last mortgage i took out in 2000 tried to claim on insurance when made redundent in 2004 but not allowed to so cancelled insurance then.

i had credit cards since 2005 but have always paid them off in full so i assume no ppi on those
