I have a drug dealer living opposite me in a block of flats, the police do not seem interested anymore, anytime he has been busted he is out 6 hours later doing the exact same again !! The council as well do not give a hoot, they are the ones that get called out to repair his door after police have entered, i have spoken and written to them about him and his customers but got very poor response.
Crimestoppers too do not seem interested either, i used to e-mail at various times to them when his door was particularly busy but nothing happens !! i phoned a few weeks ago to crimestoppers and all i got was " have you reported him before, if so it will be in hand " still nothing is done, its so depressing that nobody in any of them give a monkeys !!

Until a week or so ago I would probably have been in the "report them" camp. That was until this happened to the garage round the corner from where my parents stay. I know the guy who owned it - nice guy - used to get my car fixed there when I lived in Scotland.

Sounds like he did the right thing, now he has no business and he has had to go into hiding. Is grassing up a drug dealer worth that? I know the morally correct answer but when someone is threatened in this way it makes you question what you would really do in those circumstances.

I have seen first hand how drugs can ruin a persons life, and everything associated with drug use, how do I know, my girlfriend is a recovering addict, kick up the biggest fuss that you can and get them nicked, if your actions save the life one just one person, then you have justified your actions

well I called Crimestoppers 2 months ago and nothing at all has happened. So I emailed my local MP who refuses to do anything at all without my name and address. I called my local CID who said they do not deal with this and to call crimestoppers!!!
What the hell does it take to get a prolific drug dealer arrested? His dealings are worse than ever .... but maybe he knows that no-one in authority cares and he is laughing at the likes of me? :(

I must admit I had no idea Crimestoppers were still going. What would Shaw Taylor say??

Are you able to speak to the neighbours about it? Is he in social housing, can you report him to them? Any local PCSOs who can patrol a bit more?
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

It takes time time for the police to build a case. It also takes time for the council to gather enough info, process it and react re' a tenant selling drugs.

Try not to be too disheartened at not seeing changes as quickly as you would like. It doesn't mean people don't care or that nothing is being done. It takes time to properly investigate this kind of report and get the corroborating evidence required to get warrants etc.

Things don't happen overnight because of the way the legal system works - and there are very good reasons why the system works the way it does. Would you want your house raided and you to be dragged out of your bed and put in a cell based on an uncorroborated anonymous tip off? Perhaps from a neighbour who had a bit of a grudge against you? I'm not saying you would make a false report, but there are plenty of people who do and there are checks and balances in place to try to weed these things out. It means sometimes it takes a bit longer to get the bad guy but it also means us law-abiding folk are much less likely to be wrongfully targeted.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!
  • Yes it's the same where I live luckily I'm not too close but have friends with such nuisance neighbours that deal drugs.

My friend had reported the dealings to the Police but you all that happens is that the dealers damaged his car and property (and he's all the camera systems under the sun up).

And my friend whom we'll call Keith was attacked (on camera btw) ... the upshot was after showing to the Police eventually there was a court case and after a lot hassle for Keith the dealer who pleaded this and that (probably a Police informant) got a fine of £100 .... and damages of £200?

and how much much do you think he's paid of it? That's right nothing!

Be very wary of crimestoppers too.... they do trace the calls and all they tell you they don't do ... they do ..do
