Would you report a drug dealer???

Hi all
Have been mulling this over for months now and I just don't know what to do....
There is a drug dealer living round the corner from me, moved here about year ago, who has decided that the very best place 'for him' to do his dealings is outside my house!
I'm sick of it, all hours of the day and night cars pull up outside my house, they make a phone call then wait for him, sometimes up to 10 minutes, to do the deal.
Quite often as I pull up with my DD, 10, on way home from work/school I cant park outside my house because of a car full of complete skanks waiting for him. When I take the dog for a walk another car can be there, or they walk down and hang around on the corner waiting.
I have taken down quite a few of their number plates, I have his number plate and know what house he lives at.
The drug dealer is probably in his late 30s and lives with wife/girlfriend and has young children!
His house must be crammed with drugs the amount of dealing he does. Its not just me that has noticed this either, neighbours from across the road watch him too.
I was burgled (sp) a couple of weeks ago, had my keys fished out of the letter box, and they stole my car. Luckily they didn't come in my house. I suspect it has something to do with the little s**ts who are always outside my house. Car has been found (in a right state) with false plates etc and the police think they have been using it to to other crimes.
Now my problem is I am a single mum and live here alone with my DD and the last thing I need is any trouble. He has seen me watching him and the 'people' in the cars have seen me watch them.
I have mentioned all this to the police who have been round concerning the burgularly but to be honest they dont seem that bothered :( One asked me what the guys name was and when I said I didnt know he just shrugged his shoulders and started talking about something else! I did also stop and have a chat with some community police but they just said all I could do was call the police when I saw the cars outside.
And what irks me even more is they are in a council house with all benefits possible (he doesnt work - doesnt need to, obviously!!) whilst I work bloody fulltime to pay for him!!!! Arrgghhhh
So do i say anything or just let them get on with it??

  • Google to see if there is a phone number you can report him on in your area, you know a bit like the special one they have for reporting anything suspicious that could be linked to terrorists. I bet you any money you like that the burglars would have been customers of his!

Well the police could be in his pocket (there are dodgy police, it wouldn't be unknown).

Having said this l'd still report him, you could be saving a life.

You can ring Crimestoppers anonymously. ;)

    Happy moneysaving all.

Report him. Why should he be allowed to continue and why should people be scared of him.

We have a problem on our hands in this country if nobody is prepared to stand up for whats right and report people who do wrong and who drag society down.

Try crimestoppers if you're that concerned about repercussions.
It's anonymous and they'll pass the info onto the police for you.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I think you can report things to Crimestoppers & you don't even have to give your name

Edit: Oops sorry last poster - typing as you posted

Call the police plus call the local council too, the council will take a very dim view of drug dealing from their properties(assuming it's a council property) our local council evict drug dealers with no possibility of re homing into another council property.

I have reported drug dealing through Crimestoppers - on line and anonymously. When I came to my current workplace, the building had been vacant a while and it was clear that dealers had spotted it to be a good location to trade. I took a few numbers, descriptions and logged it all through Crimestoppers, and a bout 2 weeks later, it all suddenly stopped. No idea if it was as a result of the report - just pleased it has stopped!
  • I think you have to do something. If he were dealing from his own house, that's one thing, but bang outside yours is a problem for you, of course it is.

Have you tried ringing the Crimestoppers number?

I would also call your local police again - just because one police officer (who was only there to deal with the burglary) wasn't that interested, doesn't mean they officially won't be if you report it properly. Keep reporting it - but stop 'watching' and taking notes about what's going on. Don't attract attention to yourself. You must know if they are out there without all the curtain twitching behaviour, just glance out in passing and if they are there, call the police. I take it you aren't the only house with a view of what's going on. If they think it's you reporting them, deny it. But stop the amateur police act first for a bit, let them think you've given up.

Also, you should be able to get the number of your local community police officer - they are often very helpful about doing a regular walk-by in cases like this to act as a deterrent.

What you really want is for them to go somewhere else for this - a bit of police presence now and then on your road, should get that.

They're just annoying her at the moment, I think she means if they find out or assume it's her who has reported them and put her windows through/threaten her/her child etc.

Kaz, if you're uneasy about reporting them, do you have a friend or family member who doesn't live near you who would do it on your behalf? At least then your conscience is clear if they pulled you up over it, as you haven't reported them ~ if that makes sense?

ETA : Didn't think of Crimestoppers and cross posted with the oters who suggested it, sorry :)
