Who's going to loose when DLA becomes PIP?

I agree with this post 1000 percent. There is an old saying, if you worry you die, if you don't worry you die, so there is litte achieved by worrying. Take it as it comes is the better thing to do, and some people, looking at the descriptors so far, will actually be better off as it does seem a fairer way.
This is somewhat in a different category than futile worrying.
The consultation on these proposals is still open.
It's not impossible that enough contributions making relevant points, combined with campaigning through MPs will change the outcome somewhat.0 -
Cannot move up to 50 metres without using a wheelchair propelled by the claimant =12 points so you get the enhanced rate. It's 15 if you can't propell it yourself.
Thanks for correcting me - it is very confusing
There are measures contained within the WRB currently awaiting Royal Assent to allow the DWP to delay as long as necessary any appeal an ESA "customers" wish to lodge.
And maybe the PIP benefit as well???0 -
So the right to appeal is being removed is it where is your proof of this.
No, but it is proposed already to extend the period whilst waiting to see if your appeal is even accepted.
Consequently and hopefully making it more difficult both time wise and financially to appeal.
You would have to have very secure grounds to appeal and have sufficient income from other sources to live off!!0 -
Can someone help me please.
I have been getting MR care and LM DLA for 9 years indef, never been called in for anything. I also work part time, will I lose my DLA/PIP?
You are the type of claimant that does need to be reviewed as quickly as possible!
Never had a review - that is disgusting and why this new benefit has been brought in!0 -
Plans to ensure that what has happened with the ESA saga and the appeals system will NOT happen with the new PIP benefit!
The government will not stand around and be accused of getting it wrong a second time!
You do understand with 20% of current DLA claimants expected to either lose their award completely or have it reduced, the number of DLA appeals will increase.
You do know it was Labour that introduced ESA, do you really believe that the current Government are going to accept any blame for it, whether they are responsible or not.0 -

I understand what you are saying completely. However I din't see it as futile worrying as some of the posts imply it is literally making them sick with worry and in the great scheme of things, it's just going to exascerbate health issues.
What will happen will happen unfortunately, worrying will achieve nothing, taking action will.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -

But it is futile worrying, what good is it going to do an ill person to worry constantly day and night about wether they will lose their payments or transport, will that worry stop it happening? No of course it wont, they are just making themselves sick over something they have no control over, it could even drive some over the edge.
Of course its handy to know that these changes are going to happen, better than it just creeping up on you, but Ive seen posts on here telling others that they WILL lose their benefit because they are on a certain level, they WILL have to take their cars back because they will lose their mobility componant.
Vunerable people are asking questions about their benefit, they are of the opinion that because a poster has taken the time to look at certain websites to see what the changes entail that the poster knows exactly what he/she is talking about, that if they say you will lose your benefit because you can do so and so, or you will lose your car because of this and that then it has to be true, its just not fair for this to be going on as it creates so much worry for sick people when there is no need.
The ONLY people who can say for sure who is going to lose what, are the people who work for DLA, those who will be doing the assessing, a disabled person could now be thinking its not even worth going to the assessement because I know I will fail due to the fact someone on MSE told me so! And if I do fail its not worth making an appeal because someone on MSE has said they are making it too difficult to appeal.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0 -
Cpt.Scarlet wrote: »Er! You do understand that the Governments intention is to implement exactly the same system as ESA. The new PIP descriptors will be assessed using a variant of LiMa, and most likely by ATOS.
Yes I understand it and that the assessments will run on very similar lines to the ESA one, using modified software.
That can only be a good thing as it removes the variances between those that have excellent help to complete the self assessed DLA forms and would have a better chance of securing an award over those that put very little on the old DLA claim forms because they don't know what to do.
Everyone will have an equal and fair chance under PIP.
You do understand with 20% of current DLA claimants expected to either lose their award completely or have it reduced, the number of DLA appeals will increase.
That might be the case, and yes for those that lose something will try anything to recover what they previously had (or play the system as does happen with ESA).
I cannot see the politicians allowing the same problems that arose over the ESA appeals. They will certainly put measures in place to ensure that the appeal system is not overloaded and restrict the number of appeals entering the system. Maybe through a policy of weeding out those that are frivolous and/or restricting income in some way. A system of putting people off making appeals will be needed.
You do know it was Labour that introduced ESA, do you really believe that the current Government are going to accept any blame for it, whether they are responsible or not.
The government will not take any blame no matter what happens.
When you consider that close to 75% of the population believe that the current system is not fit for purpose, if the government shows that they are saving min 20% which could rise to 50%, the figures will show that there has been widespread abuse previously unknown!0 -

Are you being serious?
We are being told day in day out by the PM that IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN! He is on record saying that despite what the public say and indeed what the House of Lords says, he will not deviate.
Complain as much as you want to, but at the end of the day it will not make any difference.
If the Upper House can't force change on the government..... who can?
You only have to look at the University Fees argument, the pensions and retirement argument - it will happen0
