Who's going to loose when DLA becomes PIP?

Many appear to have been quite content to sit back and just keep on taking the money - nobody forced them to do this. The government is using the excuse that these people have been let down and have had no proactive help in getting back to work, but surely anybody is quite capable of looking for a job themselves if they are well enough;)
You can get DLA (and PIP) while in work btw0 -
I don't think deliberate fraud is commonplace. I do, however, think that people can often have periods where they are disabled/unable to work, particularly with mental health issues. And once you see yourself in that way, it's difficult to stop, or to acknowledge that you are better/can work. There is a lot of fear attached.
I think there is this massive grey area, full of people who may now be able to work but don't believe that they are and, conversely, people who are genuinely unable to work but the - inevitably - flawed system believes that they are.
And this grey area is the ground over which anti-benefits and disabled campaigners are fighting so viciously.0 -
Yes the real Dodgers will just lie. It is after all a tick box assessment.
the real reason behind this doesn't seem to be weeding out dodgers but just a cost cutting exercise. Make up for the top end tax cuts I expect.
..and by the way (don't know how many times I've said this!) DLA and now PIP is not a benefit you get specifically if you are not working. It is an allowance to compensate for the extra costs of being disabled in our society. Many on DLA are working and when the PIP knocks them off, they will have to go on the Dole, because they won't be able to cover all their transport expenses. The Disabled have the highest expenses and the lowest wages. One last time, this is not a benefit you get specifically for being unemployed.....therefore the previous post was very far from the truth and talking about an entirely different benefit.0
