He said that he was going to buy a car, so that he would reduce his level of savings - apparently he was getting tons of money that he didn't need,m and didn't want to lose his Pension Credit.
You said that many people would have to return their Motability cars, to which they would no longer be entitled, and they'd have to buy their own car.
My question was, that if somebody, not you, had £40,000 in savings, and then had to spend £20,000 on their own car, of sufficient size to take a wheelchair, and adapted accordingly, they would have reduced their savings to £20,000 and would now be eligible for Pension Credit.
Would that scenario not be seen as deprivation of capital? Or would they be able to claim Pension Credit.
xx
You still have me totally confused. Where has the deprivation question come into it from?
I thought we were advising/commenting on the change over from DLA to PIP?
Unless that is that I am missing something along the way.0 -

Thanks and you might as well add to the mixing pot, the ex cons that are released from prison who will now have to go straight onto the Work Programme along with everyone else who is unemployed/sick/ill & disabled.
Will employers be there for them as well?
Personally I wouldn't employ an ex-con, and I doubt many would. Re-offending rates are so high due to their natures, not the difficulties they face when they get out. Sociopathy can't be cured, nor can an attitude that 'if I haven't got it, and I want it, I'll just steal it' - which is the character of most in prison. Many out here find it tough, they don't steal, murder, beat up old ladies for their pension ... there are certain dregs of society that will never change. Employ an ex-con? I think not ....0 -
Yes - JSA and be told to find a job. I do believe that many that are claiming disability/sick benefits are indeed fit for work but are too damn lazy to go and look for it!
Here we go again Uponahill with his anti disabled attitude again.
Where is your proof that this is the case?
Is this your qualified assesment of many people claiming benefits, by interviewing them, assessing their medical records, or just by watching "Saints and Scroungers"??0 -
I for one dont really care who Andy Rotoguy or even Uponahill is .
The fact is what has been stated by Upon a hill is true, at least the guys honest to say on paper he is disabled but to himself hes not.
Hes ticked all the boxes just like thousands of others:o
It really makes my blood boil that there are claiments who get HRC and HRM for for depression ,arthritis ,ME ,Fibro ,etc etc etc etc etc .Yet my daughter cant do nothing for herself ,cant walk ,talk, sit ,seizures etc- yet claim the same amount has her in DLA benefits  It is never right and thankgod this government is introducing pip.
:mad:Mum/carer to Dallas who has Aicardi Syndrome, everyday i look at you makes my life fulfilled.0 -

even uponahill will tell you how there conditions affect there life.
dla was intended to help people live a near as normal life as possible.
clearly some folks abuse the system but by the goverments own figures only 1 in 200 are dodgy. they want at least 20 -50 people per hundred to lose there dla. how would you feel if it was your daughter.
don't assume because you think its a mild condition that it is.
uponahill thank you for explain how yours is worked out. uponahill is perfectly right to go to the gym if that helps him.
i wonder how many people will lose there jobs become more dependent on the state because of this reform.0 -

Saints & Scroungers is a good program to highlight! I watched that avidly, in shock and horror and what some people out there get up to - you can see why Cameron has a flea up his backside about it no? I have and had when watching that, but I am one of those suckers out here who pays for some of the scum that were featured on that program! They were ALL fit for work, yet chose to steal instead as its SO easy to do it in our country. Another legacy of a decade of Labour .... I begrudge no claimant of IB who is unable to work, I do begrudge the scroungers such as were highlighted on that program. Don't you?0 -

I suffer from severe sciatica which has left me with drop foot and a numb left lower calf and depression - and no im not disabled.
As for fraud rate to get that accurate you would need people to admit it :rotfl:
My daughter will always be entitled to highest rates because of the complex of her disabilites needless to say id rather she wasnt disabled:)
Oh if ya really wanna see disabilty come mine for a day - bet id change your mind;)
I wonder how many will go get themselves a job when they dont pass - posts on here show thatMum/carer to Dallas who has Aicardi Syndrome, everyday i look at you makes my life fulfilled.0 -
yet not one filming of a tax dodging scum bag. obviously if they are bent then they should get done. however life is never that simple most folks don't fall into either group. not that many are bedridden totaly dependant or jobbing builders or stunt bikers. most fall into the group of wheelchair users or suffers great pain to walk.0
