I'm not sure. The government have said that to get the enhanced rate of the Mobility component of PIP you will require 12 points but what the government hasn't yet decided is where the points threshold for getting a Motability car will be set.
For 12 points you'll have to show that you cannot move up to 50 metres without using a wheelchair propelled by the yourself.
For 10 points you'll have to show that you cannot move up to 50 metres without using an aid or appliance, other than a wheelchair or a motorised device.
So if the government set the Motability threshold at 12 points then only those people who use a wheelchair will stand a good chance of joining Motability.0 -

There is to be no separate notability threshold.
Only those with the enhanced rate of PIP mobility will get motability
- there was a statement from motability to this effect.0 -
I understand people are worried about DLA/PIP, as I am, but all these posts are just making people more and more anxious and drawing conclusions of what they will or wont get when its phased in
Its not worth the worry and making yourself ill over untill its your turn to be assessed, that may not happen to some of you for a year or two, maybe longer and who knows what could happen in the meantime, you could win millions of pounds and not need the benefit! There are so many what ifs and do I qualify with my condition, and the only people who can truly tell you that are those who will assess you.
Yes you can read up on the new benefit, but you can also read up on ESA and the descriptors but how many believe they qualify for the certain groups of that benefit and dont get in? You just never know and some with certain illnessess are making themselves worse with all the worry.not all on benefits are scroungers and don't need to be bullied!0 -

Found it!!
Here
Motability and the car dealers stand to take one hell of a hit!!!
The irony of this is that both Clegg and Cameron are both patrons of this charity!!0 -
That'll really be a blow to Motability, loosing 25% of their 600000 customers may hit them hard as well as the car industry in that's ~150000 fewer cars being sold.
It won't really affect the manufacturers as they sell them to Motability at cost anyhow!!
They may have to lay off staff, but that is already on the cards at Vauxhall already.0 -

No it will not!
That is separate and will not form part of PIP as the reason for the payment is totally different.
The payment is in consequence of war, not falling down drunk one night outside the pub and then claiming a back injury which only DLA/PIP can resolve!!0 -

Spot on and one of the best bits about this new benefit!
12+ points = Motability
11 and under = buy your own or get on y'er bike!0 -
