March 2012 Grocery Challenge

Sent DH shopping today with a list to the local shops. Very small list. Fruit veg, dairy and eggs. I also went through the Co-op leaflet and asked him to check out Weetabix 50% "free", Cathederal City Bogof and Snickers 4 for £1 - rather confusing because some of the listed items don't start until 8th and others started on 1st (new form of sm sneakiness). He only bought the Weetabix. Not sure what happened to the others as he is now out for the third time (Keep Calm...) as the wheelbarrow wheel he bought is the wrong size (Ommmm, calm thoughts). More diesel...
Pulled out most meat from the freezer and foolishly let him choose between duck breasts and legs - he chose breasts for both meals (one I am away for) so that is £15.98 reimbursed to 2nd purse just for those (I obviously did not pay that!). So 2nd purse suddenly looks quite healthy but spend is £20 more than I expected. I know - I should have just told him what he was eating. :doh:Now we have spent over £70 when it should have been £50. And the black sacks are the extra strong ones that cost 13p each . Is this a rear-guard action by DH to stop me sending him on his own any more. Hmmm. 3 blood* bags of potatoes too (planet zog or what:eek::eek:?).
I'm supposed to be preparing material for my job interview but I'm sitting here ranting. rfta we all have our challenges (but I admit DH compensates in ways that Mr T never could). Right, time for:beer: I mean Tea.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £9586.01 out of £6000 after August (158.45%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £2226.88/£3000 or 74.23% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Lordy rising, that's simply not on! I know it's only a few occurrences but this, your other recent visit and me going time and time again in January to still not get the Persil on offer makes me think they're either up to something (e.g. advertising offers they can't fulfil but getting us in there anyway in the hope of us spending on other things) or there's a bigger problem somewhere up the line a bit.
I know you don't want to go back but you really should complain on the 'phone to them. They'll give you something as recompense and there won't be any minimum spend attached. You can then use it in an online order for something you really need later. Our voucher was valid for 3 months. So sorry they've mucked up again and made you angry on a Saturday. Enjoy your chocolate bar.
Now ... you may just be onto something there!
Choc bar was yum! (don't have them very often!)Suffolk_lass wrote: »:doh:Now we have spent over £70 when it should have been £50. Various spends to report, £9.43in B & M on large box of tea (turned out we had one but it was on top of the cupboard) and then pasta and a few other bits, £6 in sainsbugs for yoghurt fruit juice and squash, 4,25 for cheese on the market and £10 for fruit and veg.
The kitties though are stockpiling like crazythey have 16 boxes of whiskas so £29.42, £21 on RC in PAH and they have £70 worth of feli* arriving soon. This should last them two months I hope. I've had to advance them some 2nd purse money.:D
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

This did make me smile Suffolk Lass!I wish you all the very best for the interview on Tuesday. Oh, and with making the  ... ahem tea! Thanks for brightening my afternoon!
Well, the MrT delivery arrived a little while ago and is now all put away. A couple of subs for 'on offer' items that were unavailable and another of their 'on offer' items unavailable (oral b toothpaste) and not substituted  so I'll have to try and hunt some down from somewhere else. Total came to £61.58 and I'll update the sig later on.
Right, off to order wild bird food from the RSPB so our feathered friends don't get hungry.
Take care,

Another rant coming .... be warned
Went to Mr T to get some Whiskas and .... guess what ...... an empty shelf with "out of stock" labels against all the varieties - it's just not good enough!
Have now submitted a "comments" sheet via their website (not that it'll probably do any good) and I won't be going back again - will be sticking to Mr A.....
Did get a few bits - notably milk which was on offer @ 96p/Litre (still expensive but better than £1.31/L) and a couple of bits at the Co*op (Snick*ers bars which were 4 for £1:o and I'm tucking into one in a minute!).
Total so far = £20.06
Hi Rising - just thought I would let you know that I have been to my Mr T to get some Whi$kas (my cats only Fel*x GAIL but of late seem to not be too fussed on that either:mad:) so I thought I'd get a couple of boxes of Whi$kas and maybe might remind them that they do actually like the 12 boxes of GAIL I have in MunniMart:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:, but, yes, you've guessed it........... sold out too:mad::mad::mad:
Just thought it might help you with your ammunition when you complain to Mr TWhen you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying!:rotfl:
