Sorry that I'm late in joining the party, had a really hectic 2-3 weeks and totally lost track in Feb but I will be more disciplined in March.

Have already spent quite a bit of this months budget, couldn't resist all the fruit in @ldi's super six, also needed to do stock up on store cupboard stuff.

Again I'm sticking to £50.00 for March

    Thanks
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £119.54
    Aug - Grocery spends = £42.19

No meal plan sorted yet nor a food budget. March has crept up on me! :(

Went into $ainsbugs yesterday for some chilli ryvita and ended up spending £51  although this did include a cookbook (£8), 2 jars of Ne$cafe (on offer at £4.00 each for 200g jar) and 4 packs of their be good to yourself sausages @ £1.99 each.

Not sure what else was in my basket but it reminded me of the perils of visiting a supermarket without a shopping list and being sucked into buying half price offers!

Have also resisted the temptation to have a home delivery shop today and take advantage of half price cat food - don't really need a shop and seems silly to find things to buy/buying stuff I don't really need when I could make do. Also my cat is well, fussy and can take or leave Whi$kers so pointless buying half price food if I'm only going to throw it away!

Must meal plan and will be back later to let you know how I'm getting on !
  • Heading off shortly to get a few bits .... I was just going to pop to Mr A but now I've been reminded about the Whiskas @ Mr T it may mean a trip there instead.

Not really happy about that as still not very impressed with the level of service last week (Diet C*oke incident!) and don't really want to go back.

  • Two spends to report this morning. Went to Mr T for a couple of their half price offers (namely tea bags), and did my monthly household stock up while I was there. I was pleased to spot a new brand of maple syrup, it didn't have a SEL yet but I took a chance and scanned it. Came up at £2.98 instead of over £5 for the Mr T version. Brand is Buckwud. It doesn't mention what grade it is, but looks good quality to me. Total spend there was £19.38. Then popped into M&S for coconut as Mr T didn't have any. Got the last bag on the shelf, plus some lunchbox snacks for the week. Total $6.37.

By the way - to add on to my earlier post about my shopping trolley. It got dragged out in the rain today and got absolutely soaked on the outside. But everything inside stayed lovely and dry. :D

London Dreamer, thank you very much for the review. Me thinks that once I have paid off the debts with the surplus of my GC then I might save up and get one of these. Hmm! another good reason to not reduce my budget any further and try and get my spending down further at the same time :D

£12 spend in MrT this morning (really could have done with that trolley :) ) On rice, sugar, chocolate and few other baking bits and pieces. Picked up a 5kg pack of rice in the world foods aisle and it was 80p a kilo. Walked down the next aisle and the MrT value 1kg pack is 40p. Guess which pack got put back. Bigger is not always nescesarily better :D

DH went to work with the pram in his car this morning so DS (22 months next week:)) and I went to 3 shops with him on his reins. Bless him he did behave quite well but did try and 'persuade' me we needed a packet of blueberry cookies which were at a grabable height in M&S!

    Spends to add:

£2.49 M&S - huge bag of stir fry veg and a chilli and ginger stir fry sauce
£2.28 Pound Stretcher - 14 AA batteries and some cup cake cases. Hope the batteries last OK as I thought they were really really cheap but worth a try;)

Actually I am going to take the cost of the cupcake cases out of my misc budget instead as they are to make Mothers Day cupcakes for DM and DMIL.

Total of £3.48 to add to GC total.

Going to chop and freeze a huge tub of mushrooms, 8 peppers and 4 courgettes this afternoon to stop them getting wasted and make a large veg casserole for tomorrow and the freezer. Will have it with cheesy herby dumplings...yum:D

Once DH has chopped the pineapple I got on the Ald1 super 6 I will make a fresh fruit salad too. I also have a load of a-bit-past-it eating apples I want to turn in to 1 couple of apple crumbles.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend x

  • Morning all

Few spends for me today, picked up sawdust for little bunny, milk, paper, and a cheeky little bottle of wine for later. Hubby's working away again so feeling a bit flat, so picked up a cheapy bottle from the local Mr T. Suddenly up to £20.81 and nothing to really show for it. But the wine will probably last me a week as I'm a lightweight. :D.
Will be picking up some fruit and veg tomorrow but should be able to eat out of the freezer until at least next Thursday. Fingers crossed.

    Have a good weekend all.

Hello Lovely people. Just popping in to say that I don't need to be on front page, happy to update own siggy. I'm going for £340 this month, for 2 +2 family all food, cleaning & toiletries. Spent £47 already & am going to Mr T's to spend my £6 off coupon this afternoon (don't need that much stuff but figure I can stock up on some offers to last through the month). Bulk buying on reduced stuff is def the way to go for me.

    Arrrrrggggghhhhhh:mad:

Another rant coming .... be warned

Went to Mr T to get some Whiskas and .... guess what ...... an empty shelf with "out of stock" labels against all the varieties - it's just not good enough!

Have now submitted a "comments" sheet via their website (not that it'll probably do any good) and I won't be going back again - will be sticking to Mr A.....

Did get a few bits - notably milk which was on offer @ 96p/Litre (still expensive but better than £1.31/L) and a couple of bits at the Co*op (Snick*ers bars which were 4 for £1:o and I'm tucking into one in a minute!).

    Total so far = £20.06
