Have been saying to DH for a while that I thought that lunch boxes had been getting smaller over the years and he had said don't be silly. Well I had been up in the loft and found an old LB of my eldest son's which he had had at nursery and it is about 2in bigger all round: width, length and depth. My littlest is now using it and it is lovely, I don't have to squeeze everything in and play tetris with the things I want to put in it which does my head in.

Updated my sig as I bought some fruit and a couple of ingredients for our anniversary meal last night. We were married on the 29 Feb, so don't get to celebrate properly very often. Had a nice meal at home rather than go out, avoids the hassle of a babysitter, and more relaxing as we can both have a glass of wine (or two).

NSD today, the cupboards, fridge and freezer are all still nicely stocked up, so feeling more relaxed about money this month.
We even managed to pay an unexpected tax bill this week - it did clear out the savings, but at least we had it, that would never have happened before MSE days.

Morning peeps! Happy St. David's Day plus Happy (through gritted teeth) World Book Day to all those parents struggling with costumes on the school run this morning :D

Went to Ald* yesterday with DM. She insisted on giving me a guided tour and shouting out "look they've got such and such over here" like I was some kind of wierdo who doesn't get out much :rotfl:Spent £36.33 which I was thrilled with.

AF order coming tomorrow (put off from yesterday as I was out all day) £23.67 and have just given DH £20 cash from my shiny new GC purse to buy some sarnies in Waitflower. We are going to his late Grandmas' house today to do some work and there is no kitchen there! We are taking our own drinks/crisps/biscuits and coffee/milk so we are being good tho' (kinda).

Off to update sig. Have a good day all!

Morning all. I'd like to join, if possible? We have been spending horrendous amounts on food shopping. Towards the middle of last year we were spending up to £800 on food every month, plus any takeaways, plus the odd bottles of milk and loaves of bread from the local shop :o.

As I'm now on maternity leave, our spending has improved a bit. Last month we spent about £600, but I think we can realistically trim this much further.

So, the aim this month is to spend £350 all in. I know thats ambitious, but I do need to make quite a drastic change to our spending.

Just to add, our budget is for two adults, one teen, two primary school aged children and a baby (currently breastfed, wooohoo) a dog, and a cat. For everything including cleaning products and nappies etc.

Managed to put £24.91 into my new groceries "pot" by rounding down in Feb:j - great idea and I never missed the money at all!:D Hopefully I'll be able to get to an "in advance" place with this budget soon!

Ooo, what's this rounding down about please? I'm curious!

Just got back from Ald! & used my other £5 off voucher - absolutely love it when they do those! Spent £30.50 in total - this month will have to be a "use everything in the cupboards" month as I MUST get some money back in my savings...:o
