Decided to declare for March ..... have a roll left for lunch tomorrow & forgot it's payday on Friday so I'm allowed to treat myself to a Sub*way at lunchtime:j
So .... £127.34 / £130 for March which is goodbut it's not quite as rosy when I look at the quarterly budget spend of £469.46 / £420 .... still learning!:o but a £50 total overspend in 3 months is a lot better than I used to do ... *positive thoughts*:)

By popular demand ( yet again <rolls eyes>) we had cauli, broccoli, bacon cheese. I don't know what it is with that dish but they would have it every week if they could.
I had a £15 spend in MrT today on a few bits and bobs. Also had to get a birthday present for the party DC3 is going to on Saturday ( 5th one this month. I sometimes hate having a popular kid, he's been to 10 parties already this year.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
have also managed to use all my fresh stuff except for 4 small onions. Will use 2 smallest ones in the soup today, but was annoyed about wasting them, when suddenlyit occured to me I could chop them up and freeze them. Does anyone know if this is ok with raw onion?
LC
Yes, onions freeze fine. If you've got a larger than needed re-sealable plastic bag, this is ideal, just spread them out in the bag as they are a bu**er to separate once they freeze stuck together, but once they are frozen I chuck them in an old plastic tub and use a handful when I need them and CBA.

I can't imagine there would be a problem freezing it - I've always frozen stuff with red lentils in and once mixed after reheating, they're always fine. Especially as these are on the bottom layer. The middle layer is definitely fine and I'm sure you can freeze mash (?!) so yes, go for it!!! :rotfl:
Glad it sounds good and I hope you enjoy! Fingers crossed for your job btw...
One last update for me this month - I spent 89p on cow's milk yesterday, as I couldn't stand that disgusting rice milk... *shudder* ... and my local Mr T doesn't sell Kara which is the coconut one I like (plus I wouldn't use it all before I go away THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, WOOP WOOP!!!)
I'm not sure what to make for lunch for the next three days - I'm thinking the pea soup might have to be the one as I refuse to buy anything else!!!
So... pea soup Wed, Thu and Fri lunches, and Lentil pie with the last of my salad tonight, and again tomorrow but with frozen med veg from A1d!. That covers me till I go.

Definitely ok to freeze raw onion - chop them and freeze, and use them from frozen. I do it all the time0 -

I am having to cheat now, and declarefor March. The reason for this is too involved (and boring) to mention, but basically I have to combine a lot of tasks tomorrow to make petrol use worthwhile. Whatever I buy from now on will come off April's budget. I also have to work on Saturday so have had to reorganise everything. March was not as simple and straightforward as expected although I don't feel I splurged in any way. Hi all
just to officially declare my March result - no more spends since milk, and won't be any today, so:
Mar GC: £76.12/£70
Thank you Suffolk lass and LavenderBees for the advice on the onions - I'll chop them and freeze when I'm doing my final dregs of salad later!
Thank you as well for all the good wishes for holiday, I can't believe I go tomorrow, it's been about 7 years since I've been on holiday, I'm so excited and then culminating in my friends' wedding as well, it's just brill! Spending today packing though as I've been terribly unorganised!
