How to spend a lottery win.

I'd sort my nearest and dearest out and then book a trip around the world to see and experience all the places and cultures I have ever dreamed about. But first, I'd have to go to Newport and renew my 2 year out of date passport!0

If I won a million, I would buy me and DP a lovely bungalow with a bit of garden and a garage and drive, we've been in love with 1 for about two years now which is just under £250k. I would then buy a 3 bed house with a garden for my beautiful sister and my niece to live in very cheaply.
I would put some money in trust for my niece for when she turns 21. I would pay off both my parents mortgages and DP parents mortgage and buy DP his dream car which is an old Sierra Cosworth.
Which would leave me with around £500k. I would donate a big chunk to a couple of local charities which have helped me out a lot in the past. Buy my other brother and sister a new car each and give them both enough for deposits on houses. Go to OZ to visit my uncle who I miss dearly and then just enjoy my life. My health isnt brilliant so it would be lovely to have that to fall back on.0 -
I'm having a bad day.
So in all seriousness, I would just like a few grand to help out right now. I'll forgo the fancy stair with attached slide.

If i won the lottery i think i'd buy a house by the sea and live in it for most of the year.
I'd go on long walks across sandy beaches with the dogs.:oThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I always thought if I won the lottery, I wouldn't go out and buy a big mansion. I'd just buy the nicest house on a road similar to mine. Fill it with all the nicest things. Have the nicest family car outside and just live comfortably and be really happy with what I had (staircase slide would be pretty cool mind you). Let somebody else do the cleaning.
I'd spend the majority of my money on days out. I'd like to rent one of those super yachts the celebs go on and just hang out naked all day."If you don't feel the bumps in the road, you're not really going anywhere "

Depends on how much considering some of the big wins achieved lately!
With a modest win of 2 or 3 million it would be debts paid and a nice family holiday while I have a house built with 2 'wings'. The dog and I would reside in the East wing and the wife and 3 DDs could have the West. Of course the deadlock bolt would be on my side of the connecting door :rotfl:0 -
Oh boy my favourite sort of discussion and there's a thread here!
I've rudely skimmed over most posts so I can be selfish for all of the 3 minutes I'm going to sit here and type about the want want wants.
All I want for Christmas... I mean a lottery win is
a house - a healthy deposit on a new pad that would sort me out for the rest of my life! Someplace away from the terrible places my OH and myself have lived the past 6 years, see my other posts for various details about those!
clear debt - the bane of my life and I still have no handle upon (and no I'm not wasting hundreds every month on the lottery :P)
a business - always wanted to start my own, lord knows what! but I sure as hell would love to run a business.
And give to charity - nuff said0 -
OH and I speak about this sometimes. Apart from the usual wishlist (house, debt etc) I would love to go to my best mate and give her a large box. Inside would be £10 and another box, of which would be £100 and another box. This would go on until she had £25,000! (I know I am wicked hee hee) she would get a massive kick out of it.
I would also love to go shopping with gok wan so I actually know what I am buying is what would flatter me (not what I think might flatter me but actually makes me look like a sausage roll!!O
OH would love to have a private rallying day with some guy who is really good (dont ask me I havn't got the slightest clue who it is)

I got all excited yesterday and bought an extra ticket for last night's draw.
A few days ago, daughter and I had been discussing 'Cosmic Ordering' (google it) and how I was going to start believing in it. (Said kinda jokingly.)
On the drive to school we pass a group of maybe 5 or 6 houses. I pointed to one in particular and said, that house is going to go up for sale one day and we're going to win enough money to buy it.
Yesterday, that house had a 'For Sale' sign outside it. Only 2 days after I had said that. Daughter and I had a shiver down our spines.I bought tickets. I didn't win. :rotfl:
Maybe you can only 'order' one thing at a time. :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0
