How to spend a lottery win.

She lives in Derbyshire. The machines are in a seperate area to the main gym and each one works a different muscle group apparently. Another poster mentioned toning tables so maybe that is what she uses. Are they the same thing that you were referring to? My sister reckons she can tone her tummy, waist, hips, thighs and bum with minimum personal effort. She argues that regardless of the weather, she wouldn't consider excersising in the rain lol, she can stay fit.If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants ~ Isaac Newton0

Well, wouldn't you know it! I just checked tonight's numbers, and I have....*drum roll*....one number!!!
Awww better luck on wednesday *max*. I was actually thinking whilst reading your thread that you had gone and done it. Got all excited for you and then felt gutted for you. Keep the faith and when you win remember those on MSE who encouraged you to keep tryingIf I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants ~ Isaac Newton0 -

Mayhap that's what they're called, but I'm not sure, as I wasn't told their name/s when I saw them. I don't know why they're not more popular!
Vanity aside, it sounds like they'd also be excellent for physiotherapy.0 -
I find it hard to understand those people who say they'll carry on as usual. All I can think is that they are incredibly boring no-lifes, with no hobbies, interests, ambitions, friends etc, and the only things in their lives are work and watching TV. And they figure a life of only watching TV would be too boring even for them.
There's so much I'd love to do but don't have time or money for. those people should just give the money they don't want to someone who'd appreciate it - me? :TCash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

I saw a programme a while ago about lottery winners. I have to say they were actually quite sad people because they didn't fit into any social group (their words not mine). They said that the people who had money that they'd inherited looked down on them as being common, the people who had worked for their money looked down on them as being lazy and everybody else was just plain jealous. So they couldn't win, and tended to stay in their own little lottery winners group.
However..... I'd have a house with a huge garden, lots of dogs to play in it, someone to (ahem) clear up after the dogs and cut the grass, preferably with its own private beach and a warm climate all year round (Barbados would do).
Then I'd give my kids some substantial sums of money and hope they came to see me every so often!0 -

Thought of another one....in my big garden round my big house (with the slide!
), I'd have a large growing area where I'd potter every day growing all sorts of fruit, veg and flowers.
BUT....I'm not too fond of weeding, so I'd have a gardener to do all the bits I don't like.Herman - MP for all!0 -
There seems to be ab awful lot of spending in this thread and not alot of investing.... Not very MSE.
I don't play, but over a few pints one evening decided that if i did win a sizeable amount, i would start a racing team. Have a Sportscar program for me and some pro drivers, then a satiellite junior single-seater program which i would sell the seats to rich kids to extortionate amounts to keep the business ticking over.
I would also become a property mogul in capital cities and stately homes.
I would of course make sure my family were looked after, but i would try and keep it as much of a secret as possible. That sort of money can be totally destructive if handled badly.
Sorry to say, but the people who want to quit work and hire staff to do everything for them sort of disgust me.....0
