How to spend a lottery win.

Sorry to say, but the people who want to quit work and hire staff to do everything for them sort of disgust me.....
Don't say it then. :undecided
I've spent my whole life looking after others.
I had what really could only be described as a bit of a break down last year because of it.
You're damn right I would have people looking after me for a change.
It's your right to think I'm disgusting. I wouldn't disrespect you for holding this opinion. I'd question the wisdom of voicing it though.Herman - MP for all!

But if you sit around being waited on all day, what are you going to have to chat to people about?
Are people going to even want to chat to you anymore?
I realise it's all moot because chances are, you will never be in the position to find out, but just think about the reality of the situation for a few moments...
I saw back a few pages someone say 'It's a life goal of mine to win the lottery'. I sincerely hope that was tongue firmly in cheek, if not, that's a bit tragic. It can't be a goal because you have so little influence over it happening.0 -
Think i'd invest in a hitman to get rid of my enemies:rotfl:0

Can't understand people who win millions and go back to their boring job and stay in their council house - why bother doing the lottery in the first place?!? Is that not the reason people do the lottery - the dream of a better life!
I would give up work but I would have the money to do something else, maybe start up a small business or do some charity work.
The thing that would make me happiest would be telling my dad that he could retire early. My mum and dad have done so much for me in my life that I would love to be able to do something amazing for him. I would make sure all of my family and friends were well taken care of and would enjoy sharing my wealth with them.
I am sure it will never happen to me though........:(Wins:Smyths Gift Vouchers, Sat Nav, £100 Next Gift Vouchers, £250 Dunelm Mill Gift Vouchers, £720 D&G Perfume, £200 Asda Vouchers, Johnnie Walker Gleneagles Tickets, Edinburgh Virgin Festival Fireworks Tickets, Givenchy Dahlia Noir Perfume Set, Long Weekend in St Petersburg, Russia, £250 Selfridges Vouchers, £3000 Family Trip To LAPLAND!!!!0 -

Who says I would be sitting around?
If I had people 'doing' for me then I'd have time for me. I could go to all the places I've always wanted to go.
I could get involved with things I can't just now because of life's daily constraints.
Anyway, as you said it's not likely to happen so save your disgust for real situations.Herman - MP for all!

I would probably be quite boring if I won the lottery by these standards.
I'd buy a decent sized home in London, something in the countryside, and the rest would go into investments while I live on the interest.
I don't waste money now, so I wouldn't do it when I had a million.
Said Aristippus, “If you would learn to be subservient to the king you would not have to live on lentils.”
Said Diogenes, “Learn to live on lentils and you will not have to be subservient to the king.”0 -

I can't believe someone took my post literally...It wasn't even very intelligent humour, I didn't think someone would get confused.
So let me make this clear, just in case: I know the lottery is a game of chance and cannot be predicted nor relied upon for income, because I am not extremely stupid (despite appearances).

a turret on the big house, high up, with glass round half of it and a big lock on the door. (The turret is my space you see
)
I am so with you on that! My dream house, that I draw often :oalways has a turret just for me (OH thinks he's coming in too, fool)Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I suspect that people who have money come to them later in life probably make far better employers than those who've never done a service type job or looked after others so I'm not sure what the "disgusted" comments are about. Better working conditions and job creation are pluses surely ?
Anyway this is a fun thread not serious one but if I had the choice I'd rather just a few million than the huge amounts like 140 million -with so much would come the worry of having to do a lot of good and a lot of responsibility and I'd want money to remove worries not add to them
I think the British attitude of putting people down because they've done well is probably why some lottery winners don't fit in anywhere socially-Personally I'd opt for no publicity and most people would have no idea of the extent of what I'd won and friends would be told I'd had an inheritence not a huge win but I'd seriously consider moving away from Britain to a country where doing well for yourself isn't sneered atI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
