They are yummy and from MSE very own Twink!
225gms of buter/marg melted in a pan with 1tbsp golden syrup, 1 tbsp water and 1tsp bicarb of soda.
whilst melting weigh out 225gms each of oats, flour and sugar ( I use 100gms of sugar and that is plenty.......)
mix all together and roll in to walnut sized balls. bake on greaseproof paper at 160/170oc for 8-10minutes. leave to cool for 10minutes before transferring on to wire rack to harden.
I can get between 50-60 maryland sized biscuits out of a batch and the little Hinge's and Mr Hinge's fight for them!!
I often add raisins or choc chips to them before baking or once cooled dip half in melted chocolate.
Keeps them happy and minus the chocolate makes for a relatively healthy snack and work out loads cheaper then the sugar laden breakfast biscuits you can buy!Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A

A trip to the farm today and a few hours entertaining the little Hinge's picking strawberries! we picked 4kg of soft fruit :j some ready to freeze for crumbles/fruit for porridge/smoothies the rest will be home made jam
..... yes I know I can by cheap value jam for pennies but nothing beats proper jam and posh stuff is expensive! this way we get many hours of entertainment for the little Hinge's by the time they've picked, washed, chopped, sugared, mixed, cooked, washed jars, sieved and poured...... not to mention the sponge cakes they get to make in order to slap a load of hm jam on them :rotfl::rotfl:
The last few days have been relatively "cheap"..... yesterday a visit to the local nature park for a long walk and paddle in the stream. Missy Hinge bumped in to some friends who were playing with fishing nets catching fish and kindly let the boys have a go! Superman was very excited and soaked everyone splashing whilst jumping up and downthankfully they didn't mind too much:rotfl:
Tomorrow will be a free swim with the local autism group in the afternoon after a morning for superman with his horse friends down at the stables.
Applied for my warm home grant today..... prods everyone to have a google and check their entitlement!
Missy Hinge's CEA card renewed online, tax credits annual review done after much annoyance with a automated machine that seemingly can't understand a word I say, finally updated our address on the last remaining things I hadn't got round to.......
All in all a busy first week of the holidays. Looking forward to next week with soooooooo much planned! a trip to warwick castle, a play date for superman, trip to london for Missy Hinge (and hopefully if i can find a cheap late room a day at lego land:o)
I love the Summer holidays!Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A

Trip to the R@nge today for a few garden bits and some crafty stuff for Missy Hinge...... she is busy crocheting herself a lap blanket for her wheelchair and umpteen thousand flowers/roses.
I have some great visions for the garden and decking here at the House of Hinge but lack of funds are slowing down the transformation. I have the paint for the fences and sheds.... B&Q bargain as another tub in the pallet split and dripped paint on it.... £6.33 for 20litres isn't to be sneezed atThe other bits and pieces are not essential they are "wants", I love the fake perfectly moulded trees in tubs and hanging balls, I would have them all over the front and back garden if I could :rotfl: Managed to pick up 2 of the hanging balls reduced this morning as the chains were broken, Mr Hinge has nipped them back together with his pilers and they are hanging beautifully at the back of the house
Aiming for new patio furniture in the end of summer sales as ours are starting to rust and wear. They haven't done bad for my £79 wilko bargain back in 2007...... huge glass table with 6 chairs, parasol and 2 foot stools...... wonder if it is a bargain I can beat this year
May have to brave the carboot tomorrow to shift the last of the clutter and make some money for the garden of Eden fund
The bread dough is proofing for our picnic lunch, Superman is naked and "chillaxing" Master Hinge and Mr Hinge are out in the garden weeding and mowing the lawn..... seems every man and his dog is mowing or strimming in our street today :rotfl: and most of them have little "helpers" tooLiving in a superhero induced haze :A:A

:eek::eek::eek::eek: we have a wobbly tooth situation...... Superman is not happy chappie  he has declared all food uneatable until it falls out
Today I have cleaned high and low, scrubbed and wiped, dusted and polished..... and now I am bushed laid sparko on the floor with a bag of asda's SP frozen veg on my neck in the hope the twinge that twanged will go away  master Hinge is taking the oppurtunity to run up and down my back like I'm a sleeping alligator or similar!
Whilst laid in such a position I have ordered a Tesco delivery for tomorrow with all the boring house-holdey type bits that I cba to carry in and out of the boot like bog rolls, washing powder, juice cartons, cat food etc.... you get the thrilling picture! :rotfl: Struck lucky with a £12 off code :money::money: and a free delivery one too
Whilst I'm here I shall share the amazing bread recipe I have found on a very handy little FB page called "feed your family for £20 a week" not the big page that was stolen but the smaller page that isn't flooded with referral codes and meat deliveries! iot goes a bit like this......
500gms strong bread flour ( i did 300gm wholemeal and 200gms white yesterday)
12gms yeast
3 tablespoons oil/melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
320ml tepid water
throw it all in, mix it in the mixer for 15minutes then leave to rise. once risen, knock back and shape, I've done is as a loaf or 8 cobs before. leave to rise again for 10-15minutes before cooking at 200oc for cobs 20minutes loaf 30minutes...... once done cover in a teatowel to steam the tops/soften.
i slathered mine in hm jam:D master Hinge dunked his in a dippy egg! yummy!Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A

I love the chilled out nature of Superman when school is out for the holidays! He is loving and playful and very mischievous! "look up! look down! your pants are falling down!" :rotfl: has filled the house for the last 10 days on repeat a gazillion times a day.... each one makes him laugh as much as the first time! :A:A:A:A
We came to the end of July Money on the 30th with a + £182 balance :beer: .....And in the summer holidays too!! ......and with a camping trip and a handful of days out!! :j:j:j:j
August budget looks good....even with the dread school shoes/trainers to buy! The uniforms are almost bought...... need some shirts for missy Hinge. She already has new trainers ( £100 .... and they were half price :eek: they are special running shoes that have high shock absorption so help her knee/ankle/hip pain)
We have a muscle foods meat order coming on Tuesday which will fill the freezer for a good 4-5weeks :T bargain price of £55 after spying a deal on their FB page with a discount code :money: have ordered a second one for the same price to be delivered for mid september :money: :money:
Have cashed in some Tesco vouchers for days out! have enough to do 2 days trips with a choice of some fabulous placesLove a good cheap day out

oh he is gorgeous when he is like this! He even looks "switched on" I'm sure Stripe will know what I mean by that. He is currently bouncing on his space hopper singing gangam style..... "Hey! Sixty Ladieeeeeeeeeeee! ooooowf! ooooooowf!" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
We really are having a ball in the house of Hinge! :rotfl: Have bagged a groupon deal for the smalls to go to the local climbing wall at some point this week.... Missy Hinge's specialist physio thinks it will be good for improving her core stability and strength..... we will see how the dodgy should holds out as it keeps popping out alot. I have some magic KT tape and techniques to try and hold it in place!
I have done abit of research and it seems the gym local to us offers a rather good carer discount..... a reduced rate for the membership which allows the use of the gym and pool and all the classes for just £20 a month. We currently pay £17.99 but that's for gym only and I really want to get back in to the water!Living in a superhero induced haze :A:A

My two love climbing - hope your lot do too. Gym deal sounds great too. I go free with DH as his Carer and we pay £16.50 a month all in - gym, pool, classes etc. We have to go together for that though, I can't go alone or I have to pay - not that I ever get the opportunity to go alone anyway :rotfl:.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Mrs Hinge and her friend loved climbing!Missy Hinge however has spent 2 days severely fatigued and in agony, her should keeps sublaxing. The price to pay for a good fun packed evening
Today I have sorted out all of the cards and presents for august birthdays (12 ) and started planning master Hinges 4th birthday. He is TMNT mad!
My Tesco vouchers arrived today so they have been exchanged up, a nice £20 for a pub meal for myself and mr H when the tiddlers are back at school and another £20 in days out tokens
cashed in a £5 reward from my bank for using contactless payments and cashed out £48 from TBC from my break down cover renewal ages ago!
