Hi, I could really do with some advice and would appreciate any input.
I hired a car, when the contract finished due to financial difficulties I was unable to pay the final months payment. When I returned the car some small damages to the vehicle were noted. I received a letter from the car company demanding that I pay not only the final months payment (which I accept) but also the charges for damages which I dispute. I tried with my very limited knowledge to try and stop them from pursuing their claim against me. I have asked for proof of their claim, validation of their claim and several other requests. They did not respond, I sent a follow up letter and final letter. I believed this would form a tacit contract as the did not provide the evidence requested. I have now received a "court claim" letter. Please can someone tell me how to check the authenticity of this document. Within the "court claim" the claimant has stated as truth that they have provided me with validation of the debt. I have received some paperwork from them but I don't think it is what I asked for e.g. a signed invoice and so forth. I am prepared to offer the amount I believe owe. Please help.

This has nothing to do with the Civil Enforcement parking scam.
