  • I've had about 4 of these calls, (lucky me) sad as It may sound I get a lot of enjoyment winding them up, especially about their accent, still it keeps me amused.I have had one telling me that they have discovered that my computer has got a virus infection and that with their help we can get it sorted out, I let them prattle on for a while then I ask them how do they know I have a viral infection after a short explanation of how good their monitoring system is I tell them I haven't got a pc, I was then accused of wasting their time. sad I know and I should try to get out more but hey there was nothing on the telly.

Well, after many months of feeling snubbed and truely left out - I received a call from the Indian Call Centre
Welcome to the (somewhat dubious) club :)
Well done on the 23 minutes when he is not conning someone else.

I had one the other week - told him I couldn't boot my machine as I coudln't reach it, no cordless phone (which he seemed to struggle to believe) no mobile etc....... He carried on explaining my 'problem', when I said hang on I'll ask my OH and he didn't know anything about it I switched to mad hysterical woman mode and said they shouldn't be wasting their time talking to me - they should tell the Government about this problem as it was obviously serious and if my OH didn't know anything about it, and he works for the FCO, then they had a duty to make sure the government's computers weren't affected.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Not fair - I've still not had any!

I have here (on my Linux-based PC) a pristine WinXP virtual machine installed under Virtualbox, just waiting for the opportunity. I'll give them remote access and see what they do, which should keep them hanging on for a while.

I already have a snapshot of it in unmolested state, so all I have to do is shut it down, revert to the snapshot and it's ready for next time...

BTW - well done, 23 minutes is pretty good.

snap, although i have also keep my camera (has HD video capture) on the computer desk so when i get my call i can record the whole thing (put the call on speaker phone) and put it on youtube

depending on the script i would look at 'songifying' it as well

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
  • I finally had one this morning, but they've caught on to the "no such company as Windows" thing and are now calling themselves "PC Solutions".

Just make sure all your vulnerable contacts are aware...

Some of you guys have too much spare time! If I wasn't such so tight-pocketed (its the Yorkshire in me) I'd pay for callerid and ignore all hidden number calls. With this lot, rather than just hang up, I say I haven't got a computer. Not much fun really as the call is rather short :-)
  • I must admit to hanging up on a similar call the other day. I love the Ubuntu bit of your conversation. Great fun!
    Oh well...
