Gardening advice please?
I have lots of lovely little seedlings coming up. I'm trying to not be too ambitious and I've not bought anything as, for one, we are penny pinching with the build, and two, I'm very much a novice. Some of the seeds are use by 2010, so I don't know what the quality of the veg is going to be like, so I've been recyling old containers from round the place and using up end bags of potting compost.
I've got Kale, salad leaves, herbs, purpole sprouting brocolli, courgettes, Braod beans, tomatoes and the like that I've probably put in too late....
One or two of my little seeds have collapsed - I take it that's "damping off"? How can I stop this or minimise it. Also, when can I transplant them? I've used the smallest containers for the smallest amount of compost and space initially but I realise they won't grow so well if I don't move them fairly quickly. Finally, when can they go outside? We've got wood and brackets for raised beds, so once I know the plants is coming along healthy, I'm going to experiment with location. Our biggest challenge is the wind on our hill. It's pretty exposed.
Thank you kind folk0 -

Rhiwie, can you remember what the le cruet things were? As I might phone an leave a bid on the book.
I think there were 6 items, I took a photo but its not that clear, casserole dishes and a pan I think, 2 lids IIRC0 -

GOT 37 WATCHERS FOR THE TRAILER !! and bids already !!
Its coming up to summer so ideal time to sell both items. I think the little tykes playhouse sells for £300+ new, I hope you do well on it, buyers know it cleans up pretty easily.
You did do well at the boot, what a find!0 -

I think from memory( and DWs corrections to my memory) and looking at photo that there are two casserole dishes with lids, pan with lid, serving dish and that lidded long rectangular dish, so prob 5 items not 6. Pan had some burn marks inside.
If in doubt Andrew or Bethan should be able to give you a quick rundown and condition description.0 -
:mad:  why do people ask the length of something when its clearly written on the add ??
:mad:  why do people ask you to sell privately when it clearly states i WONT on add ???
THE WORLD IS FULL OF DORKS.....:o0 -

Make sure that they're real Le Creuset (if that's what you're after) before you pay any premium, CTC. All my Le C stuff has the name on the lid - see pic below.
I can't see it on the pan lid shown. There are several cast-iron pans which use the Le C colours but aren't Le C.0 -

....And don't forget to enrol on a body building course, or you will never lift them!
Hope the tooth gap is OK now the anaesthetic is wearing off CTC.:)
Damping off usually happens when seedlings get too little light, too much water, or both, rozee. It happens to all of us, but it's one step up from no germination! I lost all my okra first time around this year; it was just too cold at night. Normally though it's the smaller seedlings that succumb.
I move my seedlings into individual pots/cells when they have at least one pair of true leaves beyond the seed leaves, but it varies a bit. For example, tomatoes may be done quite quickly, but I disturb peppers as little as possible early on, as they always seem to resent it. I'm rubbish at peppers! Got my first tomato flower though! :j0
