re the weather.....
obviously some people are bound by the weather for thier survival but i tend to wait for the day to start rather than wish each day away because of it.
i never look at forecast, im gratefull it is a fresh day and enjoy what i do whatever/wherever.
better to start the day without expectations than be disapointed in advance.
IMO
As Dave said, alfie, your weather is significantly better over there. Plus, you drive. Plus, you don't have an issue with footwear which keeps you inside if it's wet/muddyIt makes one heck of a difference. The weather can make some of us virtually prisoners in our own homes.

Some help please, I've got a couple of broody birds and fancy some chicks. What do I do? I have room to put them on their own, is this best?
L
It's entirely up to you, lucielle.
If a bird really wants to be antisocial you'll know. That sort take themselves off to sit in some favourite hideaway.
Many are quite happy to stay in the nestbox where they normally lay. These may even prefer the company or feel some safety in numbers. Some even steal another hen's eggs & roll them underneath themselves to add to the brood0 -

they don't pay us lodge:cool: eldest one did in the beginning ( £20 per week) then he stopped, saying that as youngest was working, he should be paying too, but youngest is only working 4 days a week, on £3 something an hour, brings home £200 something a month, and has to pay £70 a month for a monthly bus pass.
In fairness they hardly eat at home now.
Youngest said he would only live up there once all the stone work has been done etc, and there is only decorating needed..
Maybe I should start talking about it again, and see if their reaction is still the same, or changed???
Edit... Even though it would be a bit rough on times, it would make it a lot easier, hopefully easier on the finances too, as after next month, we are back paying rates on the ranch...
Think our bank accounts and spending/bills etc needs its annual review
Maybe suggest a bit of work/decorating in lieu of bed 'n board as the alternative to moving into caravans, CTC? If they're anything like mine was they'll be in the caravans before you have time to pass them a paintbrush :rotfl:0 -
change of plan:o hubby's mate is free today, so they are going to put the big shed up the ranch.. so will go into work tomorrow ( need 2 people to do some of the things that need doing)
soooooooooooooo as it is a free listing weekend, I might do some listing... with stuff I got lurking around the house,
I am going initially list them for one day, and if they don't sell, then list them again tomorrow for 7 days, so still catching the free listing...
I read it somewhere on here... that this is how some people take full advantage of the listing weekends, especially when it is 3 - 4 days... might got get the full amount of watchers, but that doesn't make any difference these days:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -

I wish:rotfl: It gets to the point where we don't even ask for help now, as its just not worth the hassle of the moaning and groaning, plus when they do help, they mess it all up, or just drag their feet, that it takes twice as long...:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -

That tactic is known as "B*gger it up & they won't ask you to do it again".0 -

yep know it well, hubby done it in the early years making cups of tea, it was sooooooo disgusting, he knew I wouldn't ask him to make it again, its a long standing joke now:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
morning all.....
hope the weather is good for you all...;)
well its D DAY today.... bids are coming in and im getting nervous now !!:o
ive got people coming to view the trailer today...:o
my son doesnt pay actual rent but only on the condition he saves for his deposit for a flat/house to buy. which he has done. he always pays half the fuel bill and the water rates. he tends to buy/cook for himself as he eats HEALTHY...:D i see it as a way for him to get his foot on the ladder.. hes always worked hard [had part time jobs since 12] and ive never been able to give him much [got his 1st car for him by exchanging a dolls house when i had my shop :rotfl:] so its my way of "helping" him..
right ive gotta shift, go get my garden bird feed from the market [like a motorway service station out there !!]
hope you all have a good day and dare i say it...its sunny here but windy...:D:D0 -
Mine tried that when they had to wash up, soon gave up when they were made to do it all again.

Guess what??? More rain
:(:(
No chance of any gardening this weekend as the ground is saturated and it will not stop raining.
However I will not let the weather get me down and I have been doing lots of planning and scheming in relation to our finances and future. Our income may plummet in the next few months so I am doing what I can to improve the position we will be in at the time. There is sadly nothing major I can do but a wee overhaul of the bills and the way we food shop will all go to help in the long term.
Also looking at alternative income sources although not sure how feasible they will be. I have a lot to think about.....Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
