    Yes, that's ours, I think.:)

Foliage is greyish. It's been so neglected I'm not good at describing it, but obviously a survivor!

Oh I am so tired of trying to juggle everything

On the plus side we just got a quote for some work we need doing and the cost was A LOT less than I had mentally prepared for ;) so we can hopefully get another room finished off over the next couple of months.

There is so much work to do in the house and in the garden that if I think about it too much it becomes a bit overwhelming. Everything ground to a halt last year (as most of you know) so I am trying to get things moving again.

In many ways I think we should have stripped our whole home back to the bare bones and started from scratch but we chose a room at a time approach, which I think has cost more in time and money. We are at the point now that we need professionals to do bits and pieces so we can continue with work. I really need to sit down and write a list per room of what needs to be done and take it from there.

Garden wise it has all gone a bit wrong  the back fence has blown down and it has seen better days but is too far down the list to replace at the moment. After a busy time I had set aside today and tomorrow to go out and get digging and weeding and get the potatoes in, however contrary to the weather forecast of sunshine it is wet and miserable so that plan is not going ahead :rotfl:

Seed wise I do not have a single thing planted and I am conscious that time is ticking! I guess I will have to go to the greenhouse in the cold and wet and just get on with it :rotfl:

At this moment a lottery win would be great :D

  • Sorry, I meant to write this yesterday :o

Yes, the picture shows the wild mallow, Dave. As far as I know the marshmallow has a much paler flower. There's also a plant called a mallow (whether it actually is I don't know) which grows more like a small hollyhock.

    I went hunt-the-piccy & found this ... http://www.pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Althaea+officinalis

Great website Itsme! :T I'll bookmark that for future reference

I was also wondering if it was something like a hollyhock from the description...!

I think they call it a 'tree mallow'. I'd call it Lavatera.

I think for most people the juggling is a way of life.

The trick is to know what's important and what can wait. Often, the thing driving you mad really isn't that important, but it's hard to block it out and focus on the things that are! :o

The other important word is 'contingency.' Frankly, I'd be much less happy going forward with our building plans if I didn't have much cheaper Plans B and C up my sleeve. Just getting the quote for the barn this week has shown me that it's hard to plan the spending, even on simple things. :(

....And speaking of planning, we had the council man here this morning. Took a couple of photos and then said, "That all looks fine. Can't see any problems at all; the permission will reach you next week."

    Rummer, me too.

So the vet came, to do it. Old girl ate a bucket of feed, the vet and I got talking, for about two hours. Vet has gone,(away not 'to sleep') old girl still here. They are going to resume drive by checks on her when they are in the area. She's just not ready yet. She looks ready, but she isn't.

What a difficult time for you LIR, I have and will be thinking of you. Old girl is lucky to be cared for by someone so in tune with her needs.

You are so right Dave everyone seems to be juggling things and I don't see things settling any time soon, well not for us anyway.

Well we were supposed to have rain and we need it as apart from the snow we have had very little precipitation since New Year.

We have a little wet; just enough to turn the ground colour and not enough to be useful at all. And the snow is still lying in patches on the slopes to the south west three weeks after it fell.

Going to have to water this weekend on the plot.

We finally have a little colour in the brown world; the sunshine on Saturday and the occasional burst since has pushed the daffodils into opening their buds at last and a few very early prunus have started to flower although not the blackthorn yet. The early double snowdrops in the garden are still in flower!

lir - when she is ready you will know. She is a very lucky lady to have people who respect her so much, you OH and the vets.

My vets are phenomenal. They are in this area on weekly rotation for normal visits and have said they will resume the habit they got into last year of coming past and hopping over the gate to check her when ever they reasonably can.

They are an outstanding young practise with such compassion. I am SO grateful I moved to them.
