It was 4c in Barnstaple today, where we 'treated' ourselves to a day of stock-up shopping, prior to family members descending for Easter.:rotfl: Here, it just about made it to 2c.
I don't know about you folk, but even with this car doing almost 20mpg more than the last one, we don't go out as much as we used to. There always seem to be a few jobs which need doing urgently at home anyway.
One job we have is planting the rest of the saplings into nursery rows. There's only about 35 of them: field maple, sweet chestnut, two kinds of birch, alder buckthorn, Swedish whitebeam and rowan. We already have others, so it will be quite a mixed copse when it's planted next year.
The ag engineers phoned tonight to say the monster mower is ready for collection. Hopefully they've achieved a reasonably permanent fix. Time will tell.
As you said Rhiwie, we are so much better off than some people, who'll be heartily sick of the weather and other issues which have made the news recently. All the same, I'll be counting every degree as it gradually warms up over the next week or so.
I'm sure it will.....won't it? :eek:0 -

I was getting some bagged logs yesterday and the upmarket stoves company who have invested serious money in the log side of the business told me they ran out of seasoned firewood in November, partly because of demand and partly due to the awful weather preventing proper seasoning.
Makes me wonder if there will be enough logs to go round in future and I suspect I know the answer
If this southward move of the jet stream is the result of the disappearance of the Arctic ice does this mean that we will have more long drawn out winters and wet summers?0 -
Had lovely sun yesterday, and nearly all the snow in front garden melted. It's snowing again today!
Getting a bit bored with it now.
Remember I won some seeds from SeedParade? I finally got round to ordering them (life just kept happening) and they arrived yesterday morning. :j Might try and get some tomatoes in soon, will do them in the propogator on our bedroom windowsill. Might think of starting off some broad beans in root trainers too. But until things warm up a bit I'm going to leave everything else.
Alfie, hope your Dad is continuing to improve. How's son's foot now?
Better think of getting dressed.0 -
We are going to have to start on some of our leyland trees in the barn soon, Two years after cutting, would have liked to leave them another year. But we are also going to have to have someone come and look at our wood burner, its throwing out so little heat. Yesterday I resorted to using it with the door open, because it was just so much warmer that way.
I am absolutely frozen. I am shuffling around the house in three fleeces.. The big dog is booked in for her spring groom and strip next week, and I am regretting that as I think she will be too cold.
At least there has been a break in the rain.0
