Yes, I think it would be worth it.. We will need to confirm before going if it is stand alone (the outdoor picture looks as if it might be a semi of a pair of holiday cottages) in which case it would still be beautiful but not for us this time. Our second choice is in Malaga, and is definitely alone, but in the mountains (so presumably cooler) and the pool is teeny tiny.

Wherever & whatever, I'd go for it, LIR.
There's no sign of this letting up for at least a month & maybe not until May. The jet stream is still sitting over Gibraltar
Is anyone else finding it really hard to shake off this winter's colds/coughs? The painful sinuses have gone but I'm still a bit bunged up & just can't get rid of the cough. Every time I think I've cracked it breathing in the cold air seems to bring it back.0 -

I've, thankfully, not got a cough/ cold, but I am just huddling up all the time to keep warm.
Seriously, another month of this? Is that the long range forecast? We've pretty much run out of winter grass and the summer grazing is still wet. :eek:0 -
I see the Met Office is saying cold weather will last until 20th April. At least we have warmth now, oil arrived this afternoon. Had a call a few minutes later from the Ops Manager of Butler who explained that a dynamic risk assessment of their 4W tanker meant it was considered too dangerous to deliver here. Too fed up to argue so thanked him for calling and told him he'd just lost a bunch of customers.
Only good news is that it appears that there is local oil buying group, so will be exploring that.
Yes Itsme, still not completely clear after the sinuses etc, feel a bit worn down with this prolonged winter.0 -

LIR - I was just repeating what the BBC have been saying today about the weather
The 20th is as far as the long term forecasts go. It may go on longer but, hopefully, it won't ..... at least not for everyone but they say it's possible until the end of April.
Rhiw - Yes, it's really wearing if not downright depressing.
I'm really pleased to hear that your oil has turned up, though.0 -
The upgrading of our barn was structurally expedient (still isn't finished) but apart from also doing it to make proper dry furniture storage space, it meant that we'd quadruple our ability to store logs too. At first I resented spending on it, but now it's obvious we should have done it much earlier.
I've made an impressive pile of wood with all the clearance done this winter, though I suspect it will be less impressive when its cut up and stacked properly. Some of it isn't exactly top quality either, but it's free.
I think your leylandii will dry out pretty swiftly lir, though it won't have a lot of body. Mine is looking dryish, though it only came down last summer and I wouldn't think of burning it yet.
I'm not sure we've established a new weather pattern yet, but it would be remarkable if the continued thawing of the polar ice didn't have some measurable repercussions climate-wise.
I'm weary today. It's cold, cold, cold, with a sprinkling of snowflakes. Not as bad as it has been, but how long can this go on?
Fortunately, no one is ill now and we are making slow but steady progress on most things. We have some fruit bushes in (don't know if they'll survive mind, they didn't have the best of starts), our wormery is up and OH is just cleaning one of the hives that we found in a shed when we bought this place, to catch a swarm in due course. We've had the local bee inspector's advice.
On the house, we have a draft bill of quantities which we should be in a position to send out to tender soon. The various time slippages mean that a build start before May is looking increasingly unlikely
The garage design was increased in size to allow for a log store. It looks like it may not be big enough, but we're not going to be self sufficient in wood, it's a back up/boost system.
It's been a good week, but a bad day today. Caravan living is getting me down.
School holidays are always frantic and we'll have no child care so if I don't get back on here for a while, I hope it warms up and you all havea decent Easter.0 -

Even if my heating is still basic, at least I spend the day-time somewhere warm (too warm sometimes). I do not think I could cope otherwise.
But the long winter is really getting to me; the bees have been locked in by the weather now since the w/c 2 March. I am almost certain we have lost one colony although the other is still alive. Somehow I need to feed them again this weekend; its been snowing here for 2 days with brief intervals and occasional sunshine; day-time tempuratures between -1 and +2C. So its kill or cure.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi Davesnave, no space left in your inbox when I tried to send to you. Not important, just a let off steam, but could do with your input on if I could send the info on or should not. Or at least not yet.0

:hello: rozee. Glad that things are moving on for you & that you're all well now. Hope you all have a Happy Easter, too.
I've been looking out the window & it's really quite spooky.
There's not a thing moving out there. No rabbits (we're usually like Watership Down) no birds (normally alive with all sorts). The sheep have all disappeared presumably they're behind the hill somewhere. The air is still & snow is falling but not laying. The only up side is the ruddy rugrat has shut up for a change. :rotfl: It's been starting at 5am or before for the last few days & is often still going at 10pm
The heron was at the pond earlier. It doesn't look happy. It was sat with it's shoulders up round it's ears. Didn't seem to eat anything. Not sure if it's just the cold got through to it or it's poorly. It caught sight of me out of the corner of it's eye & took off so maybe it's just the cold. It gave the mini-Shetland a bit of a shock when it flew over him. He set off down the land like someone had fired a starting gun behind him :rotfl:
Despite the cold we did see bumble bees & even a butterfly in the last couple of weeks but, at the moment, nothing ........ unnaturally quiet out there _pale_0
