Looks like I'm going to head north and help a friend out with her lambing. Hope the weather doesn't end up stopping the journey.
Just had to get our 3rd tyre replaced thanks to the potholes, seriously fed up. Girls in the office thought it was hilarious, I wasn't impressed.
DS1 is 18 today and busy lambing, DD1 is getting off the bus to give him a hand. Have got a fabulous cake with a shepherds crook on with Shaun the sheep head in a pint of beer and a barrell off a gun. Sums him up to a T.

Sorry!I was out planting trees (another 82 went in today:D) and I shall be out for a while tonight, but I have cleared some space now Maggie.
lir and others, I can't help with the grass issue, but I think we must just take comfort from the fact that there will be odd pockets of reasonable-ish weather between now and May.
Like today wasn't supposed to be too special, but it was OK....well, OK if I kept moving! :j0 -

Even if my heating is still basic, at least I spend the day-time somewhere warm (too warm sometimes). I do not think I could cope otherwise.
.
Sometimes I try and think of places I can go in the car, just to have the car heating on
Although I am annoyed to miss a delivery of a parcel today it does mean a drive of twenty five minutes each way to collect it tomorrow :j:o:j:o0 -
Just heard on the news this march is on track to be the coldest for 50 odd years.
Rhiwie so glad you had your oil delivery today..def worth looking into a local co-operative buying of oil... what about your neighbours would they be up for it?, might be worth doing it for other things too,
Yep this cold damp winter( and summer) is taking its toll on me too, its also so depressing... which isn't good for your health too.
And that has been pointed out, grazing has no feed value, which will have a huge impact.
Davesnave... IF we wanted to replace/plant some more trees on our land, purely with the intention to cut them down for heating etc, what would be the quickest growing tree?Work to live= not live to work0 -

Are you warm in bed? Can you get even that much respite from the cold? I tuck my head under cover so I'm breathing in warm air, too.0 -

LOL, that's what we did on our honeymoon! We had a hire care, after a few days in hotel we went to caravan - same site as we're on now, but tiny van with no heat and deffo no insulation! :rotfl: The rain chucked it down (mid June) and it was horrid cold. So we got in the car and drove around as much as we could with the heater going full blast. We did have one nice day, we went for a picnic and spread out our rug and put out our food to then find we'd put rug on top of a big ants nest!:eek::eek: I ran and left poor OH to collect up everything!0 -
LIR... have you got an electric blanket? as I am seriously thinking of buying some of them...
Also going to get more more wool blankets from work, as they really do keep you warm..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Unfortunately what grows quickest isn't usually what burns best, CTC.
This may help on how the different timbers burn, though
